The first floor is the new Marco Urgent Care Center and features 12 private exam rooms, one private triage/patient intake room, new equipment including CT and X-ray, and a covered ambulance entrance. Another 1st in the region!

Congratulations to Robert Grossman, MD, and the NCH General Surgery who successfully performed the first single-port (SP) transabdominal colectomy surgery in South Florida, marking a significant milestone in minimally invasive surgical care for the region.

The SP approach is an advanced robotic technique in which surgeons operate through a single small incision, typically at or near the navel, using a robotic system designed to articulate instruments through one access point. This method reduces trauma to surrounding tissue, may minimize pain, and can lead to shorter recovery times.

Currently, it is approved for colorectal surgery, urology, and select ENT applications, however in the future, it will be available for a wider variety of cases. Because of the precision required and the specialized training needed to operate the single-port platform, only a limited number of centers offer this capability.

The NCH Healthcare System is an alliance of more than 700 physicians and medical facilities in dozens of locations throughout Collier County and southwest Florida. The services offered by the NCH Healthcare System are extensive. Inpatient services include: medical, surgical, cardiac, orthopedic, obstetric, pediatric, rehabilitative, psychiatric, oncology, emergency treatment, and diagnostics. Outpatient services include: rehabilitation, home care, walk-in centers, wound healing, and more. This year the system had 37,284 admissions, 87,100 emergency room visits, 3,033 births, 416 open heart surgeries, 11,282 surgical procedures, and 3,000 employee colleagues. NCH is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
