Today, I want to shed light on the vital role of women as unpaid caregivers in the United States. Astonishingly, women in the U.S. make up most unpaid caregivers, providing essential support to their families and communities [^1].
Statistics show that 75% of caregivers are women and they spend significantly more time on unpaid caregiving than men in the U.S. This impacts women's ability to pursue educational and career opportunities as well as have the freedom to do what they want with their lives.
The economic impact of unpaid caregiving is substantial. The estimated annual economic value of informal caregiving in the U.S. exceeds $500 billion [^2]. Despite this tremendous contribution, women caregivers often face financial hardships, as their unpaid work limits their earning potential and retirement savings.
Furthermore, the emotional and physical toll on women caregivers should not be underestimated Many experience higher levels of stress, fatigue, and health problems compared to non-caregiving women[^4].
It is crucial that we recognize and support the invaluable work of women caregivers, and while we do just that we must break the cycle and protect our daughters and granddaughters so they may have a bright and unencumbered future!
If this resonates with you, please DM me. I am offering a Full Family Assessment to protect women from the challenges of caring for others.
