This week we are looking at the concept of Svadharma, or moving in the direction of your own nature. In your practice, we ask you to consider where your effort feels natural and when you override what feels natural. We can use practice to notice when breath flows without negotiation or when we comprise the breath to accomplish something that is not in alignment with our nature. Svadharma is not a job title or a destiny. It’s the felt sense of moving in the direction that is yours.

Practice with us on Thursday:

At Naples Yoga & Movement, our classes go beyond the obvious, come and see for yourself.

This week's focus:

Svadharma (one's own righteous duty or inner nature) is defined by the Bhagavad Gita, “Better is one's own dharma, though imperfectly performed, than the dharma of another well performed”. It emphasizes acting according to your true nature without fear or imitation, ensuring spiritual growth and inner peace.

In practice, Svadharma feels like choosing the pose that supports you rather than the one that is impressive. It feels like listening deeply beneath the noise of the mind. It feels like remembering that alignment is not just a physical thing, but a way of living.

We don't practice for betterment, we practice for embodiment. When we are seated in presence, every moment is abundant with generous awareness. The pulse is a sacred timekeeper, the breath is a truth-teller and the body is an oracle. The gifts that emerge from the depth of our body when we show up to this practice are ready for you to receive them.

“Listening to these wordless signals can give you higher‑quality information than thinking it through.” — Christine Caldwell

In classes this week, we practice bootilisciousness: letting sensation speak first, letting the mind follow. A return to the body as home and compass. Mindfulness says: notice your breath. Bootilisciousness says: feel how your whole body breathes you. This week we invite you to use sensations, breath, movement, and emotional tone as the center of your awareness.

This week at Naples Yoga & Movement: Nirodha

Nirodha is essentially the process and state of extinguishing the "fire" of craving and mental agitation. Our practice refines us to be patient and embodied enough for this experience. We turn our attention back to our center and to the source of creative potential. A refocus on what is fundamental to our work—breath, bandha, drishti—results in the dissolution of what is excess and holding us back.
This process demonstrates that there is no beginning nor end, but an unfolding awareness that sustains our evolution. Postures and abilities may seem to come and go, but the coming and the going are equally valuable teachings.
When we sit in the center of this, inert and patient, we are full of open radiance. In nature and in life, a quick becoming is a quick fading away. Potential and becoming must be in balance, down to the elemental level. The season of watchfulness beckons us.

“Within each of us there is a silence as vast as the universe.” — Jack Kornfield

The crown chakra invites you into that inner expanse. The frequency that represents the crown is no-sound or silence, so that we can move beyond our typical mind chatter and reside in a more profound connection.

Come practice in the space of connection this weekend:

Saturday

- Ashtanga Led Primary with Amy 7 am
- Vinyasa with Cesar 9 am
- Strength, Mobility and Yin with Cesar 10:25 am

Sunday

- Vinyasa with Cesar 9 am

"True and profound happiness can be realized only in the breakthrough of the limitations of the self." -Shai Tubali

The crown chakra is the energy center that summons us from beyond our self-limiting beliefs and conditioning. When we remember our boundlessness, we feel the gentle stirring of our original nature. The luminous path of the chakras along the central channel of the body is a return to ourselves, from root to crown.

This week at Naples Yoga & Movement: The Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra, or Sahasrara, is an energy center that opens to clarity and connection. When the mind steadies and the body settles, a wider perspective is available. Practice gives us the revelations within this perspective to align with our highest and truest selves.
