Can we talk about charcuterie for a second?
I have a love/hate relationship with charcuterie. But, before you jump down my throat, it’s not for the reasons you might think.
Since I wanna end the post on a positive note : Here’s what I’m not a huge fan of. They’re expensive, and hard to justify making on a regular basis. I mean, you could make a pasta dish that’ll feed you and your partner for a week at a fraction of the cost of making a small charcuterie board. Another thing, most of the time, a lot of ingredients go to waste. There’s always something that doesn’t get eaten and I always feel like half the board is just sitting there after you’re full
What do I like about them? Charcuterie boards are (for lack of a better term) adult lunchables and I LOVE that. You take simple ingredients and put them together easily to make a delicious meal (or a snack) that will satisfy even some of the pickier eaters. I love how simple they are to make and yet they’re so delicious. It’s a light meal without you having to really do anything other than put ingredients on a cutting board.
Tonight I made a little charcuterie board for dinner that was on a cutting board maybe a food long and four or five inches wide and that was the perfect size for the two of us. The only thing we needed extra were some crackers but other than that nothing went to waste AND we still have ingredients for another board which made it significantly less expensive than if I had decided to do a huge board for just two people. We would have ended up throwing half of it away.
I know I rambled on a little bit, but moral of the story? Make yourself a small charcuterie board from time to time, that way you can save your ingredients and get two meals because these things are pretty delicious :)
