Our EMS community is strongest when we rally around one another.
We are keeping FF‑AEMT Zach Langford and his family close in our thoughts after he was seriously injured in a line‑of‑duty ambulance crash in Franklin County.

Zach is a dedicated provider, husband, and father with a long road ahead. A GoFundMe has been created to help support his recovery and his family’s immediate needs.

BOTS Morning Sessions!

Three sessions. One mission: save lives in the chaos.
Morning lectures at Battle of the Smokies set the tone for tactical trauma care:

🧠 Rick Slaven broke down the prehospital contributors to trauma-induced physiologic collapse—reminding us that recognition delays are deadly.

👶 Elliot Mitzelfeld covered pediatric trauma, where “small bodies, big forces” demand precision, speed, and specialized thinking.

🔥 Melinda Wilson tackled EMS performance in high-risk, low-occurrence trauma, where preparation meets the moments we rarely see—but can’t afford to miss.

High-yield content. No fluff. These sessions sharpened the edge before teams hit the field.

The Battle of the Smokies officially kicked off with opening ceremony and operational briefings led by Brian Millington of the Tennessee Mine Rescue Association.

Brian Robinson followed with clinical pearls on hemorrhage control and traumatic amputations—setting the tone for this years BOTS, focused on teamwork, high-risk medicine, and real-world readiness.

We’ve got a full and exciting day lined up for the Battle of the Smokies EMS Competition & Conference on March 4th, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back!

🕗 8:00 AM — Conference & Competition Kickoff
Start your morning with education, scenarios, teamwork, and a little friendly rivalry.

🕕 6:00 PM — TAEMSP Annual Membership Meeting
All members are invited to join us as we look ahead to another great year.

🎉 Immediately After — EMS Night Out at The Pines Downtown Sevierville
Once the meeting wraps, we’re heading straight to The Pines for a night of fun and fellowship. Expect bowling, arcade games, great food, and plenty of time to relax and connect with EMS friends from across the region.

We’ll see you there for a night of laughter, community, and well‑earned downtime.
