PCOS is now officially known as PMOS — Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.
The name change reflects a growing understanding that the condition is far more than a reproductive or ovarian disorder alone. PMOS highlights the deeper connection between hormones, metabolism, insulin resistance, inflammation, and overall endocrine health.
Symptoms can extend beyond irregular cycles and fertility challenges to include fatigue, acne, weight resistance, inflammation, and metabolic dysfunction.
Lifestyle factors like nutrition, exercise, stress management, and blood sugar regulation may play an important role in supporting hormonal and metabolic health. Genetic testing may also help provide deeper insight into pathways related to inflammation, detoxification, nutrient metabolism, insulin resistance, and hormone balance.
