NOT YOUR Average YOGIS NYAYs I am Not Your Average Yoga Teacher, 1000 CYT, because my classes are different and are relatable to My name is Nicole N. Flynt and I am a Yoga teacher.

I am Not Your Average Yoga Teacher, because my classes are different and are relatable to real life challenges of urban living. I am trained in Trauma-Informed Yoga; Trauma-informed Yoga is focused on the well-being of the entire person. With the understanding that everyone’s trauma is different and cannot be measured or compared to another. The definition that I use for Trauma is- ANYTHING THAT DOES NOT FEEL GOOD TO YOUR BODY. I graduated from 4 Corners Yoga & Wellness June 2017 with a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate, in November 2020 I completed a 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training from Sacred Seeds Yoga School and in June 2021 I graduated from Yoga Liberation Front 500 hours Yoga Teacher Training. 1000 of crying, stretching and making space in my body and mind for the goodness that was waiting for me. I had to confront my fears and feel myself through the uncomfortable times in my life that I had hidden from myself. Yoga means to “Yoke” or “Connect” you to you, you to everything and you to the Universe and all that comes with it. In my sessions I encourage talking, laughing and expressing how you are feeling at the current moment, (being present). I also focus on breathwork, the art of breathing, as sometimes WE forget to breathe and the majority of people are shallow breathers, only using 25% of the lungs’ capacity. The asanas (poses) can be done on a mat or on a chair. Age, flexibility or experience is not a factor. I want people to start when they are NOT ready. Yoga in the urban community is needed. It is proven that by practicing Yoga reduces high blood pressure, stress and other under laying illnesses that are the results of living under constant stress (or simmer as I like to call it). Yoga is not just for women, I encourage men to participate as it is beneficial to them as well. Yoga is for EVERYONE! No matter your size, I highly encourage larger bodied people to practice! I am a larger bodied person and I practice Yoga EVERYDAY! Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years by people of all ages. We will explore the different types of Yoga and make it your own personal practice. You will see results while doing Yoga, but remember progression is key, slow and steady wins the race. We move so fast in today’s society, and your EGO is in the driver’s seat. Yoga makes you “take a minute to smell the roses.”

Today was one of my Yogis birthdays! 85 years young! Jim has been doing YOGA with me for the past 3 years. When I first met him he had surgery on his left arm and it was frozen.. now he can swim and play golf again!!! Slow and steady wins every time!

CONFESSIONS FROM :
I absolutely HATE cancelling a class. I literally get anxious. As we have all experienced life be life-ing... Yesterday I had an appointment that ran into my class time. I couldn't stop what I was doing and had to cancel my class.( My students know that if I cancel class I have to be sick sick or out of town. I'm always teaching) My class sent me a picture of them still having a session, one of the students taught the class 🥺🥺🥺 I'M SO PROUD OF THEM!!!!!!! They prioritize themselves!!!!! Scavenger hunt to find joy... Two things I love the most: Me and YOGA... I am going to love myself out loud more and more. Why? Because I survived things that would have killed others (literally). I'm pretty sure some of us have this same thought process, when you look back on your life and wonder, how in the f@!k did I make it through?

Scavenger hunt to find joy.... Reflection
2025 was a time...What I have learned:
1. Grief has no time limit
2. Be careful what you allow in your life ( people, places and things)
3. Stillness is a skill that one needs to obtain
4. Forgiving yourself is crucial to your well-being
5. Stress will cause disease
6. You make your schedule; there is always enough time in a day for what you really want
7. Mean what you say and say what you mean
8. Honestly and Transparency will always win
9. Self-care is priority #1
10. Loving yourself out loud teaches others how to love you
11. Reciprocation shows you how people really feel about you
12. Knowing the difference between helping and enabling
13. Putting yourself FIRST is NOT SELFISH it's SELFLESS
14. Emotions are energy in motion; feel them, respect them then let them flow
15. Do it now, not later
16. Wear it now, not later
17. Not everyone is your friend, put them where they belong
18. Do what makes you happy always
19. Find your passion, turn it into your job

As I wrap up my classes for 2025 I want to thank my NOT YOUR Average YOGIS NYAYs from Roxbury YMCA for letting me guide them and strongly encouraging them to do the hard work of releasing past pain and trauma. I thank you for trusting me and looking out for me when I was overwhelmed. This year this group taught me that I have permission to rest and they will continue to take care of their Best friend without me. They can do it! and have. I'm so proud of them and how much they have grown . I have improved myself as a teacher because of them. I would not be who I am without them! Thank you and Happy Seasons and Happy New Year!
