Assisted Living week is in full swing. The tenants of Indian Creek Assisted Living kicked off the first days festivities by making shadow boxes. Tenants were very creative and used some of their own items as well as items provided from the community. Job well done.

We enjoyed celebrating Wizard of Oz Day by taking in some trivia, watching the movie and serving Oz themed treats. It was fun listening to the residents reminisce about the movie and learning facts about the movie and cast. This is definitely a timeless film!

Who knew a book club could be some fun and engaging? The tenants at Indian Creek sure did! The first book was "Where the Crawdads Sing". After the book was finished, the tenants were treated to a lunch meal of: Fried chicken, grits, collard greens, hushpuppies, sourdough biscuits and blackberry jam as well as peach cobbler for dessert. All popular foods in the story. Once mealtime was over it was on to movie time. Now it is time for Book Number 2!

Could these little pups be any cuter? We had 5 baby French Bulldogs come visit us this morning and the residents absolutely fell in love! Meridith, a nurse with Suncrest Hospice, had her niece bring them in to share with us. There are a few still looking for their "fur"ever homes! Just look at all the smiles on the residents and tenants faces!

Sometimes you have to dig deep or even beg others to show off their talents. Today we were able to listen to one of our residents play a tune alongside Ling, a music therapist with St.Croix, as other residents used the tambourines,, drum sticks, and bongo. It was great! Afterwards, our very own Director Of Nursing, Dayle, instructed our residents step-by-step while they painted a sunset scene on canvas. We served treats on a stick to close out our "State Fair Week". Yum!

Mikayla Oz, a magician, came to perform for our residents and tenants at Rolling Green Village and Indian Creek Independent and Assisted Living. Between card tricks, making a bird disappear and changing the time on the clock, she kept us on our toes trying to figure just how she was doing it!! What a great show!

Indian Creek and Assisted Living Tenants were able to get out and enjoy a beautiful summer day! We took a trip in town to “THE WALL THAT HEALS” it is a ¾ scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC that came to Nevada. The tenants all felt honored to be able to see this in person and reflect on this historical event.

We kicked off Iowa State Fair week with ISF trivia, baby chicks and homemade ice cream. A big thanks to our nurse Kassie and her kids for bringing in 7 baby chicks for our residents to pet and cuddle with! We ended the day watching "Beyond the Blue Ribbon", a special that Iowa PBS aired, showing off behind the scenes events leading up to the fair and the variety of activities during the fair. We made homemade ice cream while the residents watched the special and paired it with pie from Perkins. What a treat!!

Indian Creek Independent and Assisted Living hosted “Breakfast Before Business” on Friday morning for the community and had a great time! Waffles, eggs, bacon, fruit, danishes, and coffee were a huge hit! Tenants enjoyed having breakfast with all those who were able to stop by before they headed out for their day. Attendees were also able to meet our new Assisted Living Manager, Cassie Tankersley. Recapping the event, Cassie said, "I enjoyed getting to meet family members and people from the community!"
