We were happy to welcome AudioNova of New Bern with us today for an informative discussion on hearing health. Facilitator Logan Pridgen shared how untreated hearing loss can impact overall health, including increased risk of dementia, balance issues, social isolation, and cognitive decline. She also explained some underlying conditions that can contribute to hearing loss. Our residents were very engaged and had lots of great questions! To top it off, AudioNova generously provided snacks for everyone to enjoy. šŸ‘‚āœØ

As we celebrate Christ's resurrection and the victory of life over death, our EveryAge family wishes you a joyous Easter. May you be surrounded by love, encouraged by faith, and reassured by promises kept and the triumph of all things good.

And as our CEO shared with us on this holiday weekend, "May the miracle of Easter bring you peace and joy."

🌷 Easter at NOAH 🌷

This week, we had the joy of hosting a special Easter luncheon for our residents at NOAH. We were especially grateful to have our board member, Victor Taylor, join us as a volunteer—it truly means so much when our leadership helps create moments of connection and care.

We are incredibly thankful for opportunities like this to fellowship with our residents and celebrate the season together. From all of us at NOAH, we wish you and your family a joyful and blessed Easter! šŸ£šŸ’›

šŸ’Œ Love was in the air at our Valentine’s Day Social!

We transformed the space in festive shades of red and spent the afternoon celebrating the wonderful community we have here. Our tenants enjoyed sandwiches, cupcakes, and plenty of laughter — a simple reminder of how much we appreciate each one of them.

Valentine’s Day isn’t just for couples — it’s a day to honor all kinds of love: friendship, community, and the joy of being together. ā¤ļø

Below is a picture of NOAH’s snowman. ā„ļøā›„ļø

The bottom photo was taken on 2/2/2026, and the top one is from today, 2/5/2026.

The snow has melted… but this little snowman is still standing strong.

This snowman wasn’t just a fun winter project—he was built with pure love. ā¤ļø

Ms. Mawrine Jarman’s grandchildren made him especially for her after she was involved in a major car accident on Christmas Eve. She suffered a broken neck and, because her insurance wouldn’t cover the care she needed, she was sent home. Unable to move or go outside to enjoy the snow, her grandchildren wanted to bring a piece of winter’s joy right to her window.

Since Ms. Mawrine lives on the third floor at the front of the building, they carefully built the snowman in the perfect spot so she could see him every day—a small reminder that she’s surrounded by love, resilience, and hope.

Through everything, Ms. Mawrine continues to show incredible strength… and she is blessed with a family that loves her beyond measure. šŸ’›āœØ

Please keep her in your thoughts as she continues to heal.

šŸŒ¬ļøā„ļø With dangerously cold temperatures expected across NC and VA this weekend, now is the time to step up for our older neighbors. In‑person check‑ins and a solid plan are essential before the winter storm arrives this Saturday.

Start with a quick safety checklist:
āš ļø Is their heating system working properly?
āš ļø Do they have enough food?
āš ļø Do they have their medications and essential supplies?

Once you’ve checked the basics, here are five ways you can make a big difference:

1ļøāƒ£ Make a plan ahead of time. Reach out now so they know they can count on you if the weather gets rough.
2ļøāƒ£ Check in before and after storms. A quick call or knock at the door can ensure they’re warm, safe, and prepared.
3ļøāƒ£ Stay in regular contact. Extreme cold can be isolating — even a brief daily check‑in matters.
4ļøāƒ£ Help with shoveling and icy walkways. Preventing slips and falls is crucial. If you’re already outside clearing snow, consider doing their walkway too.
5ļøāƒ£ Bring a warm meal, hot drink, or essentials. And if you live in North Carolina… you know the drill: don’t wait for them to ask — just take them the milk and bread!

ā„ļøā¤ļø Let’s show what a caring community looks like.

Check on your neighbors. Keep each other safe.

Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., along with his tireless work in promoting civil rights. King dedicated his life to speaking out against inequality, injustice, poverty, and war before being assassinated in 1968. This national holiday also seeks to draw attention to King's use of non-violence to bring about meaningful change and to his belief in the value of public service.

Last week, our residents celebrated the season in style with a Christmas Extravaganza! The day was filled with laughter, delicious food, and festive surprises — even the Grinch stopped by to spread some holiday mischief (and a few smiles)! šŸ’š

A heartfelt thank you to Home Instead, Garber United Global Church, and NOAH for making the celebration extra special with thoughtful gifts and gift cards.

From our family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season! ā¤ļø

Breast Cancer Awareness Month at NOAH! 🩷

Our recent observance focused on the importance of knowing the signs. Five residents joined us for an informative session that included a short video, ā€œ7 Warning Signs of Breast Cancer,ā€ followed by a discussion.

Participants also received handouts detailing each of the seven signs and symptoms to watch for — empowering everyone with knowledge that can make a difference.

We recently celebrated Oktoberfest with a lively and festive event sponsored by the Friends of the New Bern-Craven County Public Library. Thanks to their generous support, residents enjoyed a variety of traditional German treats including pretzels, assorted desserts, and refreshing beverages. To bring the spirit of Munich to life, videos of the authentic Oktoberfest were shown, along with travel clips and lively performances featuring singing and dancing—The Chicken Dance was a crowd favorite!

The event featured four interactive game booths: ring toss, ping pong ball toss, a prize wheel, and a prize pickup station. Residents earned tickets with each win, which they could redeem for fun prizes such as snacks, adult coloring books with pencils, reading materials, crossword puzzles, word searches, and charming home dƩcor items.

A total of 18 residents attended, along with NOAH’s dedicated staff. The atmosphere was cheerful and engaging, making this fresh and festive event a hit with everyone who participated.
