is back, with a fresh-out-of-the- box RWS deck! I picked this up right before starting at the New Braunfels Renaissance Faire, realizing I don't actually own just a...regular RWS deck 😆

is a reminder to hold ourselves and our loved ones with gentleness, with kindness, with the courage it takes to be vulnerable as well as fully and authentically ourselves. We can drop our guard a little bit today. Share something true with someone; the cinnection you make may surprise you.

Also with the holidays coming up, be mindful of choking hazards within reach of small children and pets, and double check the lists of toxic plants, veggies, and fruits that can cause your furry friends real damage (ex poinsetta are EXTREMELY toxic to cats, and as usual do not give your dogs onion or garlic). Nobody wants to spend Yule in the ER.

We've finally put up decorations, watched some nostalgic spooky stuff, and I feel ready to welcome in a season of soft darkness and velvet-soft shadows that I treat not as something to be feared or rejected, but welcomed as family, as a crucial piece of myself, as all the ghosts of who I used to be.

Magic says, "I think you mean Pick a CAT.

Theme of the Week: The is a sensitive soul. The kindness that comes easily to all the Cups family here manifests as a natural intuition, allowing them to keep their finger on the pulse of the emotions of everyone around them. They are at home in their emotions--and sometimes, at their mercy.

: imagine you stand in a gentle stream, water burbling around your ankles. Breathe in the clean, damp air and let the current carry you to...

Left: The is the drop in the ocean that creates ripples, which become waves, which crash upon shores far and wide. Your relationship with yourself is just as important as your relationships with others. Search your heart--what new understanding is available to you?

Middle: 'In tune with emotions' does not mean 'calm and serene 24/7.' If you've felt at the mercy of painful thoughts and feelings, take the as reassurance that calmer waters are ready to welcome you, so long as you steer your vessel in that direction.

Right: It may surprise you, but Desire and Ambition can be considered emotions too. To be in tune with what you feel often leads to a better understanding of what you WANT. It starts with 'what makes me happy?' and then it naturally follows that you ask yourself 'what FEEDS my fire?' The is an invitation to start asking those questions. What do you WANT to create for yourself?"

Magic says, "I'm just resting my eyes...

Theme of the Week: The indicates indecision, avoidance, and blocking out truths--whether we're aware of it or not. This avoidance eclipses our experience of ourselves and the world around us, closing us off from potential rewards because we judge the danger too great to risk exploration. Find a way to remain open to energies this week, even (maybe especially) those which ask you to confront any sources of discomfort.

! Settle into your senses, let them guide you toward...

Left: For all that I love them, is far from perfect. It's easy to avoid anything & anyone from inside that protective shell. It's equally easy to claim you're not avoiding anything or anyone, you just like your alone time. Consider how you choose to "protect" yourself, how that avoidant energy takes shape toward the world around you. What are you afraid will find you, if you allow your light to shine any brighter?

Middle: The is a card of full embodiment, of the sensual and the sensory, of enjoyment. When you close yourself off, sometimes the thing that suffers most is your ability to be present in your senses, in your full experience. Or perhaps you're someone who hides from those matters that weigh on your heart & mind by indulging every hedonistic impulse. There is no lasting escape, in either case. The decisions and choices you're running from have a way of catching up to you.

Right: represent, among other things, authority and how we choose to world it. We may instinctually think of someone who rules by the sword as a tyrant, an arbitrary or capricious sovereign whose people suffer under their whims. On the other hand, a ruler who first rules themselves, who can confront their reflection and reconcile their decisions with the kind of person they try to be, is a powerful ruler indeed. Not because of the weapons at their disposal, but because they strive for peace with themselves."

Juneau says, "I can't STOP you, but I CAN judge you.

Theme of the Week: comes to us this week to guide our decisions (or goad us into making one). Theirs is the energy of fairness and compromise, of logic, and of truth. How do you balance the scales of your life, day-to-day? Remember also that the cosmos have their own scale: what you put into the world comes back to you. Inner truths may surface that cause some discomfort, especially if you've been avoiding them. There's no more wiggle room; there's simply what is and isn't Right.

: Sit with me. Curl your toes into the ground, feel it steady you. Feel your intuition guide you towards a choice and...

Left: The denotes a messy ending. When this card appears there is little else you can do but wait for the dust to settle, sort for yourself what you've learned, and move through it. Justice asks you, ruthlessly, to examine what part you've played in events leading up to this point and take responsibility for the consequences.

Middle: The is represents success and celebration! The first leg of your journey is behind you, and you can take a (quick) well-deserved moment to breathe. It provides a stable platform from which to take the next step. The energy and effort you've put in so far has resulted in early rewards, but don't let that fool you into believing the work is complete. Under Justice's influence, this card invites you to maintain your momentum, that flow of energy Out. It will come back to you.

Right: Our old friend the is back. Feeling overwhelmed? Frustrated? Not that there isn't a lot to be frustrated about, but this perception can trick you into doing nothing. Remember that you are not as powerless as you feel. If there's a decision you've been putting off, or even avoiding, now is the time. Justice gives you the tool to cut yourself free. The rest is up to you."

Magic says, "Time is a construct and so are deadlines.

Theme of the Week: (recap from yesterday) , reminding us to release those burdens of shame, of resentment, grudges and blame that hold us back from becoming the best possible version of ourselves.

! Sit with your intuition and choose the card that calls to you...

Left: Not quite an , the nevertheless makes a cameo. Wands represent, among so many other drives and motivations, our Ambition, and the Father has seen theirs become a reality. But you don't reach their level of success without making mistakes. Without stepping on a few toes, or challenging boundaries. Without hurting someone's feelings. A true leader knows when to make amends, and how best to follow through.

Middle: The similarly makes a cameo this week, reinforcing the message that through release, through change, through the setting down of our burdensome patterns, we can make room for something new. A new project, a bew idea, a new passion - the sky is the limit! What have you made room for?

Right: Few understand 'letting go' better than . Their release comes in the form of detachment, of removing themselves so they can see their situation from a distance. And from this distance they have the chance to view events and actions from a different angle. It may be strange or even painful to consider the idea that you do not deserve the burden of blame you've chosen to carry so far. The Hanged Man invites you to find out who you might be, without the constant refrain of "all my fault" in your head.

Magic says, "Sunny spot, and I'm off your cards, you tyrant. Everyone wins!

Theme of the Week: We leave the behind with gratitude, and welcome to work its magic of release, forgiveness, and acceptance. Judgement in the does not denote punishment, or submission to a higher authority. No - in tarot we focus on the art and action of self-love: we practice forgiveness of the self, so we can extend that same grace to others. We all carry burdens of anger and resentment, of shame for our past actions or patterns. What if we just.... let that go? How light would our hearts become if we accepted the idea that our past selves did the best they could at the time, that they were flawed human beings just as our current selves are?

! Take a few deep breaths. Center and ground yourself. Let me know in the comments which card calls to you; I'll post the reveal later this afternoon!

Magic says, "You kicked me out of the sunny spot for this?

Welcome to , Journeyman-style! Every week I'll draw a new Theme, YOU choose the card that resonates with you, and I'LL tie each card into the Theme. We'll try this out, see how it works!

Theme of the Week: Somehow it seems fitting that our old friend the is here, at the start of the new year. This energy serves to remind us that some journeys, whether literal or not, must be undertaken alone. We leave behind people, patterns, behaviors, and habits that keep us from reaching our fullest potential, the best possible version of ourselves from moment to moment. But remember: Alone doesn't necessarily mean Isolated. We all have people in our corner who are ready (and in some cases, chomping at the bit) to help us grow as soon as we make that decision to Quit/Leave/Stop...

Left: ...or, in some cases, Start. The is here to light us up, to get us started. It finally has the room it needs to breathe, to glow and shine and shed its light into every dark cobwebbed corner of you it can reach - how incredible is that?! This journey has been a long time coming, and maybe--just maybe--you're finally ready for the challenge it represents. The summit calls you!

Middle: Self-centeredness isn't a unilaterally negative trait. When you undertake the challenge of this solitary journey, you by necessity focus on yourself. YOUR passions, YOUR thoughts, YOUR desires--YOUR transformation. The is an energy in the midst of the most vibrant bloom of inspiration & passion. They're a free spirit, curious and playful and open to every experience they encounter on their path. What do you have the space for? What has 'Leave/Quit/Stop' made room for in your life? What better and brighter desire will take its place?

Right: A fire in the hearth is no less Fire than a spark, or a bonfire. The skill to balance fuel and flame is an important one, and one you've cultivated deliberately. You've harnessed your shine so that others may at once bask in your warmth and kindle and discover their own light. Consider your journey, and all who have cheered you on from the sidelines.
