🚨 Community Alert: The Dangers of Fentanyl & Carfentanil 🚨

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid responsible for countless overdoses across the country—and it’s here in our communities. Even more alarming, Carfentanil, an opioid 10,000 times stronger than morphine, has been confiscated in our area. This substance is so potent that just a few micrograms can be deadly.

These drugs are often mixed into counterfeit pills or other substances without the user’s knowledge. The result? A single use can be fatal.

What you can do:
âś… Talk to your loved ones about the dangers of fentanyl and carfentanil.
✅ Encourage conversations about treatment and recovery options—help is available.
âś… Never use drugs alone and never assume any pill is safe unless prescribed by a doctor.

If you or someone you know needs help, call 988 for mental health and substance use support, or visit local treatment resources. Your life matters. Your family matters.

Together, we can save lives. đź’™

I thought arriving on the prison bus the second time was the worst but then there was a 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th time.

I used to like to joke that “I’m a slow learner!”, but it’s really no joke.

Struggling with mental health challenges and addiction made for hard life but God delivered me from it all!

Today I’m back in town for my monthly in person supervision visit with our 4 resident employees within the Canon City Prison Complex.

Our Discovery Cafe Peer Recovery program, created by Kings and Priests Ministry in 2020 is most attended program in the Skyline Correctional Center with over 60 residents attending weekly.

Sharing our lived recovery experience with others to inspire hope that change is possible!
All the glory to God.

Today I celebrate my 6th year of sobriety from drugs and alcohol.

I like to say I’ve been in recovery since 2018, when I overdosed on co***ne.
My life forever changed but I tried to drink moderately in 2019…it did not go well. Then I relapsed again in 2020. After 3 days of about killing myself I got sober on February 21, 2020.

The first week was hell, the rest of the month sucked. Terrible depression and anxiety, the enemy tried to get me to throw in the towel again but I stuck to my guns.

My wife was instrumental in my recovery. Without her I’m sure I’d be dead or back in prison today.

God, the Lord Jesus Christ, is my Savior. Praise God. Thank you Jesus!

I recover out loud today so others don’t have to die in their shame, guilt and in silence, alone.

Today I have relationships with my adult children, my grandchildren and am blessed to still have my wonderful wife and my youngest prince of a son at home with me. I am truly blessed.

Last night my son Alex shared beautiful pictures and videos of his children playing in the snow. This photo is of my precious little angel Aaliyah ❤️

Each day is a gift. Find your purpose and live life to its fullest. I’m so grateful for the grace of God.

2 Corinthians 12:9 -
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

You find a client trashed a hotel room you got for him because they were homeless. It’s freezing out.

This person is sick. Has a disease, substance use disorder. I had to remove this person from the room after they relapsed and wouldn’t answer my calls.

This person had to be taken to the emergency room in my company vehicle. This is the work.

You pour your heart out. You pray. You lose sleep.

You find out they left the hospital because they don’t want to detox.

Letting go of outcomes is so hard yet necessary. I can’t make anyone do the work needed to recover. My job is to let them know they are loved and valued without judgement. If they call we will keep meeting them where they are at and try again. 🙏♥️

We met during one of my Discovery Cafe recovery groups inside the county jail.
He didn’t share the first couple of groups but when he finally felt comfortable enough to open up I could see his potential and his desire for change.
From jail he went directly to an inpatient treatment facility and then got released to our sober living house.
He’s been volunteering with us at the homeless shelter as he looks for a job.
Going to recovery meetings daily and church on Sundays.
It’s very rewarding to watch guys step into who they are destined to be.

Of course my belief in God changed the trajectory of my life.
I needed a healthy outlet back in 2010 when I injured my rotator cuff lifting weights in prison and was released homeless.
I found a Krav Maga school in Denver a few blocks from the shelter I was staying. Scrounged up enough money to sign up for a months worth of classes and at 40 years old took my first class. My life would forever change.
By 2013 I would earn my first level one instructor certification, start my own Krav Maga business and brought the first Krav Maga class the Roaring Fork Valley.

Feb 5, 2016
Earned my first Krav Maga black belt.

2019 inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame
