Below is an example of a typical lunch or dinner that does not significantly raise Dad's blood sugar! After 30 yrs he is finally off all diabetic medications and has been for 3 years! His A1C is below 5.7 each year since!!
Served hot;
1. 1-2 cups cooked white(golden) quinoa(seasoned or plain, may use limited butter or olive oil)
2. 1 cup veggies or 1 whole corn on cob(limit butter/olive oil)
3. 1 6-8 oz portion of fish or meat(vary between fish, chicken breast, steak), **once per week he eats 1 cheeseburger from SmashBrgr+a veggie like brussel sprouts in place of his regular dinner.
4. Sometimes in addition and/or between meals he eats a whole apple with the skin or extra meat, veggies, or quinoa.
Note: Remember to monitor your blood sugar levels carefully when you change your diet as a low blood sugar condition can be dangerous.
