"We tend to think of cancer as a disease that mainly affects older people, but an increasing number of diagnoses are happening amongst the young. What is behind this alarming rise? And can anything be done to prevent it? Horizons moderator William Brangham explores those questions and more with Laura Behnke, Dr. Veda Giri, and Dr. Shanthi Sivendran."

🎗April 6-10 is AYA Cancer Awareness Week & National Public Health Week🎗

Follow us this week as we raise awareness about the rise in cancers among younger adults.

Early onset cancer, which is any cancer diagnosed in adults under age 50, before the age at which standard age-based cancer screening tests are recommended. Early onset cancer can be many different cancer types, such as breast, colorectal, and lung cancer, that are typically diagnosed at an older age.

✴Since 1990, there has been a nearly 80% rise in cancer diagnoses under age 50.

✴Early onset breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed, but early onset GI cancer, like colorectal cancer, has the fastest-growing new-case rates.

✴Gen X and Millennials may be at higher risk of developing early onset cancer compared to older generations. If this trend persists, Gen Z and Gen Alpha may be at similar risk.

Stay tuned this week as we share more about the impact of early onset cancer and how to take action. Learn more from our Early Onset Cancer Fact Sheet at https://bit.ly/EOFacts
