Why Trauma Therapists Are Embracing Yoga Therapy for Anxiety Treatment:

🧠 Anxiety isn’t just mental—it’s deeply physical.

That’s why more trauma therapists are weaving yoga into their treatment plans. When anxiety shows up in the body as shallow breathing, digestive unrest, racing heartbeats, and muscle tension, talk therapy alone isn’t always enough.

🧘 Yoga helps clients:
• Regulate their nervous systems
• Build body awareness and agency
• Release held tension and trauma
• Anchor into the present moment

This is especially important for trauma survivors who may struggle with dissociation or hyperarousal. Gentle, attuned movement practices help them safely reconnect with their body—and begin to feel again.

Yoga isn’t a replacement for therapy. It’s a powerful complement.

🌙 Still struggling with sleep after all the usual advice? Here are 4 yoga therapy tools you may not have tried yet.

🔹 Build a hormone-friendly bedtime routine
🔹 Use midday Yoga Nidra instead of napping
🔹 Do gentle movement + breathwork instead of intense workouts after dark
🔹 Get down on the floor. Trust us.

Sometimes your nervous system doesn’t trust that it’s safe to rest. Sleep becomes disrupted not because you’re doing something wrong, but because your system has learned to stay ready, just in case. This isn’t a failure of willpower. It’s a survival response that needs recalibration, and yoga therapy can help.

A complementary yoga therapy approach can help children and adults with ADHD by:

• Improving emotional control with meditation practices

• Grounding the body via movement and proprioceptive feedback

• Nervous system regulation with breathing and mindfulness practices that soothe overstimulation

This isn’t a replacement for medical care—it’s a supportive tool that helps you feel more present, in control, and at ease.

🌿 Stress isn’t always loud—it often whispers through sneaky symptoms like jaw tension, digestive upset, or insomnia.

In our latest blog article, we unpack 7 hidden signs of stress and share how yoga therapy can address each one:
• Breath Holding? Add restorative breath breaks with extended exhale
• Gut trouble? Practice Supine Knees to Chest and Supine Windshield Wiper Twist to help reset the stress-digestion connection
• Fatigue? Try Prana Nidra, guided rest that helps restore depleted energy stores

It’s not about fixing, it’s about attuning.

Yoga helps you feel again: your breath, your bones, your capacity. It’s not about touching your toes. It’s about noticing when your body is whispering before it has to scream.

Stress management isn’t just what you do when things get bad. It’s how you stay connected to what you actually need even when life is full.

Feeling vulnerable about low bone density? You don’t need high‑impact workouts to rebuild strength.

Yoga therapy provides an evidence-based approach to building bone density and improving balance, all from the comfort of your home.

• Holding poses for at least 30-90 seconds provides the necessary stimulus for bone growth.
• Progressive loading ensures continued improvement. This means that as muscles get stronger, the poses and time held must evolve over time to maintain the necessary challenge.
• Maintaining accessible alignment and muscle engagement reduces the risk of fractures and injury, making the practice both safe and effective over time. 💪

This isn't about flexibility—it’s about reclaiming strength, safety, and confidence.

... As their primary mental health provider, I have seen patients make tremendous gains when adding yoga therapy to their treatment.

Patients learn new ways to connect to their bodies, calm their minds and regulate their emotions. Christine teaches simple and effective techniques that her clients can use at home. She is easy to collaborate with and has a unique perspective that provides therapists with new insights into their patient’s struggles. I highly recommend working with [Yoga Therapy Associates.]”
