Occasionally I offer weekend office hours, and the special guest is my oldest daughter. For the patients that are in the know, sometimes they’ll request weekend hours when they know my daughter is likely to be a guest “ophthalmic technician,” but mostly she’s in a supervisory role, managing the office weekend workflow and making sure everyone is on time. Future ophthalmologist? We’ll see… 👀

January is Glaucoma Awareness Month! 🎗️

Here is a slit lamp image I captured today using my setup of a patient referred for high intraocular pressure (IOP). I diagnosed pigment dispersion glaucoma, and took this picture to show him the characteristic findings. “Hm, kind of like I have Jack-o-lantern eyes” he said. We performed SLT laser for both eyes as primary treatment. 👀
