Zen Zilla Yoga and Wellness

The Mission of Zen Zilla Yoga and Wellness is to elevate the vibration of urban peace seekers by achieving the peaceful state of balance one experiences through a purposeful mind and body connection.

Zen Zilla Yoga and Wellness is for those of us who are serious about finding inner peace that radiates outward. I combine meditation, music, and movement to create your experience, bringing you closer to a Zen state of mind. Through music and movement I use detailed verbal cues to guide participants into breathing patterns and poses that align body and mind, leading to a calming balance which is commonly known as Zen. In this relaxing, yet energizing practice, we free our minds and find peace to address day-to-day stressors most effectively. When we are mindful and present in the here and now, we are moving ourselves toward Zen.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, African Americans are living with or dying of many conditions typically found in white Americans at older ages (Content source: National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion July, 2017). Societal factors such as poverty, employment status, inadequate access to health care, and housing situations disproportionately affect African Americans and have a negative impact on our health. I have designed the Zen Zilla Yoga and Wellness program to offer researched-based practices, such as yoga, guided meditation, and mindfulness to provide practical coping strategies to effectively address the stressors of urban life, particularly among African Americans. I reflected on my first-hand experience as a member of this underserved community, in conjunction with my studies in Education, Psychology, Fine Arts and Yogic Training to create an relaxing, introspective experience for all urban peace seekers.
