Remembering those who never made it home. We will always be missing them, loving them, and grateful for the time we had with them.

🎼"If you're reading this, my Momma's sitting there
Looks like I only got a one-way ticket over here
Sure wish I could give you one more kiss
And war was just a game we played when we were kids

I'm laying down my gun
I'm hanging up boots
I'm up here with God and we're both watching over you

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed
That it would go
And if you're reading this
I'm already home

If you're reading this
Halfway around the world
I won’t be there
To see the birth of our little girl
I hope she looks like you
I hope she fights like me
Stand up for the innocent and the weak

I'm laying down my gun
I'm hanging up boots
Tell dad I don't regret that I followed in his shoes

So lay me down
In that open field out on the edge of town
And know my soul
Is where my momma always prayed
That it would go
And if you're reading this
I'm already home"-Tim McGraw

🌸 Happy Mother's Day! 🌸

I'm grateful for my boys, Alan, Sawyer, and Arlo. They have opened my eyes and mind to another level of love I wasn't aware existed. They have taught me to have more empathy, patience, grace, and to always ask questions. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be the bodyworker I am today.
Forever grateful and in awe of them ~ Faith ~

🌷 A Mother's Love🌷

A Mother's love is something
that no one can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .
It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .
It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .
A many splendored miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.

📣 Biosecurity at Oak Creek Equine 📣
I had posted this last year, but with the concerns in MN and WI surrounding EHV1 I wanted to reassure you that Oak Creek Equine is continuing and always will practice strict biosecurity measures.

OCE Biosecurity protocols between Barns:

• Sanitizes all equipment
• Changes clothes, hats, and boots
• Cleans and treats boots in a sanitizer dip nightly
• Stops all sessions at facilities with known outbreaks of anything contagious
• Washes and sanitizes hands, arms and under fingernails
• Avoids working on horses with a fever or undiagnosed conditions
• Sanitizes my vehicle

Oak Creek Equine will always work towards putting the safety and well-being of your horses first.

One of the hardest parts about equine bodywork is losing the ones we love. The grief comes in waves over and over again, crashing down.
Whether its walking into the barn to see their empty stall, that empty halter on its hook, calling their name as you head out to the field, or the gentle nicker to greet you.
We pour so much of ourselves into our equine clients. They continue to gracefully teach us about the essence of the horse. We are fortunate to build a relationship with them.
It's an honor that most call me Auntie Faith, and they become a part of my heart, take up many hours in my mind, and have a special place in my soul. We feel the hurt and wounds deeply with losing you. Their absence leaves a giant hole within us, and we ache for the adventures that have come to an end. So today, I am numb and hurting for the loss of a dear friend and companion.
They will forever live on within our hearts.

May you gallop freely forward in rolling green pastures.

💚 Auntie Faith

This horseman's pledge to the horse
by Bruce Sandifer

I will never forget that our relationship was my choice and not yours.

Because this relationship is of my doing I will take responsibility for how it evolves through through my leadership.

If I am unsatisfied with your performance or attitude I will not blame you or those who have handled you in your past.

I will look to myself to find better ways to communicate my desires and expectations in ways that you can accept and do not rob you of your dignity or spirit.

I will remember that your nature is not the same as mine .
Realizing this I will do my best to work together through your nature, not break you to mine.

I will do my best to protect you and not betray your trust by setting you up to fail through lack of preparation .

I will not expect you to be what I can not find in myself to be.
If you are not confident, precise , consistent or happy, I know I must find these things in myself first.

I will try to be aware of you and do everything in my power to be the kind of leader that I would want to follow.

I will value you and try not to take advantage of your good nature and willingness.

I will not risk your physical or mental well being with shortsightedness or for quick personal gains.

I will always strive to improve myself to be the best for you I can possibly be.

I will put your needs and well being above my expectations and desires.

Everyday horses continue to amaze me. They have a profound resiliency that can directly impact each of us if we allow it.
Four years ago, Shadow was kicked by a herd mate and diagnosed by a veterinarian with radial nerve paralysis. Thankfully, we were all at the barn when the incident occurred.
Shadow was a wonderful demonstration of resiliency with a heart of gold.
Today, during my continuing education course, I had the privilege of working on a horse who fractured his spinous processes in the cranial thoracic vertabral region. I was in awe of how quickly he healed from his injuries.
How fitting that this memory would come up on a day where my equine partner would teach me about being resilient.
The horse truly is a perfect example of being resilient.
