How's this for a ?! It's August, so everyone is back to school. What was your first day at Hotel Dieu like?
In 1899, the first Catholic School of Nursing in Louisiana was established at the Daughters of Charity Hotel Dieu hospital in New Orleans. Hotel Dieu was owned and operated by the Daughters of Charity beginning in 1858, and the only hospital to remain open during the Civil War. Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, hotel Dieu hospital officially closed; the nursing school was closed in 1975.
