“I teach yoga to people who think they can’t do yoga” ❤️

Join me for this very special course aimed at helping folks feel confident enough to take a yoga class anywhere: in person, at a studio, online, or for a home practice

Dear Beginners, we will move very slowly, deliberately and purposefully. You will learn how to safely explore basic postures and practices for personal practice at home or in any studio

Done some yoga before but felt lost or confused in class? Join us and learn the foundations of classical yoga.

Trying to practice at home but don’t know What sequence to follow or what order to do things? This course will give you a simple template for daily practice that is doable and complete.

Yoga is at its core, a simple practice with the goal of peace of mind. This course will center around that simple message with manageable yet powerful classical yoga practices:

Asana ( poses)
Pranayama (breathing practices)
Savasana (Relaxation)
Dharana (Meditation & Mindfulness)
Mantra (sacred sounds)
Yoga + Vedanta basics (philosophy)

The profound meaningfulness of deep listening.

Hearing a person - without judging, is a sacred and challenging thing.

So often we want to fill those empty spaces with our own opinions and ideas.

Or share our own insight or wisdom. The “I know how to fix this” that lives within each us.

Instead of holding the sacredness of empty space. Instead of watching, and witnessing… and waiting.

What would it feel like to truly hold space for a person?

What if we trusted the wisdom of the person we are sharing space with and allowed them to lead the way?

Would it be an act of respect?

Of love?

Of honoring?

Is it a recognition of their own inner knowing and light?

I wonder…

What is deep listening to you? I would love to know, let me know in the comments ⬇️

Thank you .bedrick for the inspiration and teachings for this post.

A love letter ~ to the feeling people 🌸

Were you ever told that you were “too sensitive” and should harden for the comfort of others?

Were you told to “toughen up” lest you be too soft for an unkind world?

I’m here to tell you that your beautiful, kind heart is necessary and needed in this world. That *you* are needed in this world. You do not need to root out your softness for the comfort of others.

Telling someone to stop being sensitive is akin to asking them to change their skin or eye colour and that just isn’t possible; nor is it a reasonable ask.

My world is filled with sensitive people and I love all of you ❤️

You don’t have to be anything less than who you are.

Your sensitivity is actually a strength. It is deep wisdom rising to the surface.

You have the capacity towards deep connection with all of creation.

You can easefully deepen into devotional sādhanā as a Bhakta.

You connect freely with people and can open into care, compassion and service to humanity.

You are needed, special and valuable.

I see you. You matter.

With heart,
Aarti

Yoga doesn’t belong to you or me, or to any of us in fact 💕😊.

Teachings move through us in a stream of wisdom, taught to us by lineage teachers, elders and ancestors who shared knowledge to inspire, educate and support us on our journey.

Don’t be fooled by those who teach this practice as if it is their own creation - it’s not 😊

The name of my sessions is aartiyoga, but it isn’t mine. And I don’t claim it as such. It’s a treasure, gifted from my elders, gurus and ancestors.

A gift that we are meant to sit with, rest in, absorb, and root into so that when we do share, we share from our own experience with the teachings.

Seek teachers who are humble and kind, ones who are practitioners first, and lifelong students. Ones who share the teachings as if they flow through them, not OF them. There are so many beautiful genuine teachers out there.

As I wrote this as I thought of the many wonderful teachers I’ve been blessed to have. Thank you to them ❤️🙏🏾

Honoring the beautiful traditional dance form called Bharatanatyam on this ❤️

This dance form, which I practiced for many years is a sacred and devotional form of South Indian dance, traditionally performed in temples as a storytelling art form.

It would lay the foundation for, and compliment my devotional practices later on 🙏🏾

In this picture, I’m performing the story of Nataraj / Shiva in our local Hindu temple in Toronto. ❤️

Tagging my dance partner in crime ❤️

Honoring my dance teachers over the years, my grandmother for her inspiration and my parents for driving me to all those practices and rehearsals :) Now that I have a wee dancer of my own, I recognize how much parental dedication is required ❤️ 😅
