🌟 We've got some major news to share! After careful consideration, we're shaking things up on our socials. Formerly known as emPOWER NOLA, where we focused on educating our community about childhood trauma to uplift our youth.

But guess what? We're stepping into a new era with MEDS Legacy! It's more than just a name change—it's a whole new vibe. This is our pledge to build legacies, empower our Black community, and share expert healthcare knowledge far and wide.

From the heart of New Orleans to every corner, our mission remains unwavering. We're here to diversify healthcare, ensuring everyone gets the information they need and lifting up those who need it most. That's the essence of MEDS Legacy.

To all our supporters, thank you for being with us on this journey. We couldn't do it without you. Let's keep pushing, growing, and building this legacy of inclusion, knowledge, and wellness. Stay tuned, because we've got so much more in store! 🚀

We did a thing today. We supported and bought a few suppers. One thing about New Orleans, we use suppers as fundraisers. But if the food isn’t good, people will talk. We will talk about how good this supper plate was from the fish to the cake and everything in between. Thank you, 2nd Queen Chocolate for taking care of us.

Corinne Evans, 16, rescued four people when a car drove off a boat launch, plunging into the Mississippi River about a week ago. The car sunk 20 feet from shore when the teen responded to the calls for help.

“I was just like, ‘I can’t let none of these folks die. They need to get out the water. So, I just started getting them. I wasn’t even thinking about nothing else,” Evans, a Pascagoula High student said of his heroics.

Did you know that the Backstreet Cultural Museum reopened this past weekend?

Ten months after Hurricane Ida damaged this museum celebrating New Orleans' Black parading culture, the Backstreet Cultural Museum reopened. In New Orleans fashion Mardi Gras Indians, the Baby Dolls, and Skull and Bones Gang were on hand to parade from the original building to the new museum.

While the museum is at a smaller location, not all items can be shown at once which means the exhibits will rotate every few months. That just means you need to visit more often. And don't forget that, "Everything you love about New Orleans is because of Black people" (via Phlegm).

Dr. Arnold James humbly shared the stage with Dr. Wanda Johnson, mother of Oscar Grant. Oscar Grant was shot in the back by a white policeman while lying on the platform in Fruitvale Station, Oakland, CA on 1 January 2009. That policeman claimed he had thought he had his Taser in his hand rather than his gun. A discussion on mothers and parenting their sons was needed but also an emotional one.
