☮️ Ahimsa 🧘♀️🧘🏽🧘🏻♂️
Ancient Wisdom for a Modern World
In the classical yogic texts, Ahimsa (Sanskrit: “a” = non, “himsa” = harm) is the first of the five Yamas—the ethical foundations of yoga described in Patanjali’s Yoga Sūtras (2.35).
It asks us to refrain from causing harm in thought, word, and deed—to others, to animals, to the planet, and to ourselves.
✨ Living Ahimsa today:
• Language & Online Presence: Choose words—especially on social media—that heal rather than harm.
• Consumption: Support ethical food, fashion, and business practices; reduce harm to the environment.
• Self-Compassion: Non-violence begins inward; notice and soften harsh self-talk.
• Social Action: Stand for justice with empathy and compassion — firm yet free of cruelty.
Ahimsa isn’t passive. It is active love—a courageous commitment to meet life with care and to ripple that care into the world.
When we pause before reacting, we create space for understanding and connection.
Ahimsa isn’t passive; it’s powerful, conscious action rooted in respect for all living beings—yourself included.
🖤 How could you practice little more non-harm - Ahimsa- in your thoughts, speech, and choices?
