A year ago, turning 50 became an experiment in choosing “now” over “later.”

My dear friend joined me then – and now joins me a year later to reflect on what actually shifted when experiences stopped being postponed and presence became the priority.

From long-talked-about trips to unexpected moments of stillness and connection, we chat about what mattered, the surprises, and what didn’t need to be planned to be meaningful. This episode is a thoughtful look at how paying closer attention can quietly change the way time feels... and how we live inside it.

Cool days in South Louisiana call for something warm and comforting ☕️ Traditional hot cocoa can pack a day’s worth of added sugar, but better-for-you options let you keep the cozy without the crash. Pro tip: add enough liquid so you don’t end up with chocolate soup… unless that’s your thing 😉

Taking a break from alcohol—even temporarily—can be a powerful reset. Many people notice better sleep, more energy, and clearer thinking when they step away for a bit. There’s no one “right” reason to try it—just curiosity and a chance to see how you feel. 💛

We have more access to health data than ever, and sometimes it’s helpful… and sometimes it’s just a lot.

If tracking is supporting you, great. If it’s creating stress, it’s okay to step back.
Finding what actually works for you matters more than any number.

This week our home is featured in the Inside Out section of The Advocate, and I almost said no.

Not because I don’t love our home — but because it’s never been about making a statement. It’s not trendy or styled for the moment, it’s simply ours.

We rebuilt after Katrina using reclaimed materials — old wood, old doors, old bricks — and a lot of care in the choices we made along the way. From the beginning, our goal was to create a space that feels meaningful, warm and inviting.

Over the years there have been a few updates here and there, but much of it has stayed the same: the curtains, the furniture, the pieces that found their way here over time and hold so many stories and memories.
Saying yes to this feature felt like honoring this idea. Grateful to share a closer look at ours today.

Floating in the deep blue, listening to the song of a whale below us - I felt a powerful sense of stillness, the kind of calm that quiets everything else.

This year has been full - full of experiences, travel, change, and celebration. But this moment reminded me that the most powerful thing can be simply to pause and feel.

Carrying this with me into 2026.

The New Year doesn’t need a total reset. Sometimes what actually works is a mindset shift — small, sustainable changes that build real momentum. Here’s to easing into the year with clarity, intention, and a little more grace.
