The Med-Peds community is small but mighty!

As our organization grows, we have found many pockets of Med-Peds enthusiasts across the country. Our very own membership committee co-chair, Dr. Zachary Wood, founded the first AMPP regional chapter in South Carolina, where they fondly refer to themselves as SCAMPPers.

In Med+Peds, we like to say that 1 + 1 = 3 ( shout out). Fortunately for our board certifications, 1 + 1 = 1.5

If you missed our MOC webinar this summer, here is the summary of how a Med-Peds provider can maintain both ABP and ABIM certifications. We can choose to accumulate our MOC points through either ABP or ABIM and then request reciprocal credit through the other.

AMPPlify Global Health Webinar

Have you wondered about the role of Med-Peds in global health and the management of chronic diseases without adequate resources? Then this is the webinar for you!

As part of our AMPPlify advocacy series, we will be hosting a webinar on Tuesday, July 29th @ 5:30 PM PST/8:30 PM EST to discuss "Chronic Disease Management in Low-Resource Settings," featuring Dr. Jeremy Schwartz from Yale. Dr. Schwartz trained in the Med-Peds residency program at Yale, where he now serves as the Firm Chief on one of the general internal medicine teaching services. He is also the Medical Director of the Eastern Caribbean Health Outcomes Research Network (ECHORN). He is a co-founder, and the US-based co-Director, of the Uganda Initiative for the Integrated Management of Non-Communicable Diseases (UINCD). He also serves on the Advisory Council of the Young Professionals Chronic Disease Network and is a member of the East African NCD Alliance post-2015 Implementation Initiative.

Our first and only board member to date, Dr. Robert Fortuna has been providing support and guidance for our organization since its founding.

Dr. Fortuna completed his Med-Peds residency training at Harvard, where he stayed to complete a fellowship in general medicine within the Department of Population Medicine. He now serves as a professor of medicine and pediatrics at the University of Rochester, where he is also the medical director of the ambulatory residency training site and the medical director of the broader primary care network, overseeing 42 offices. He actively contributes as a health services researcher, and he is an editor for the Med-Peds Academic Channel.

I am passionate about providing longitudinal clinical care to patients of all ages. Additionally, I serve as medical director for a large primary care network and enjoy leading population health and quality initiatives across our region. My combined role allows me to integrate clinical care, population health, teaching, and scholarly work, creating a fulfilling and meaningful impact in true med-peds fashion.
