Lighting the way for Papa Noël along the Mississippi.

Another favorite holiday tradition that takes us out to St. James Parish on Christmas Eve. Families all along the river make extravagant structures to light along the levee while also cooking for the neighbors.

Early Cajun settlers started this long standing tradition of lighting bonfires along the Mississippi River on Christmas Eve. Built on the river levees, the bonfires are intended to light the way for “Papa Noël" (Santa).

We're lucky enough to know one of the families building their own bonfire on the levee and also get to indulge in homemade gumbo during the festivities.

NEW NAME, WHO DIS?! We’re getting a glow-up! has dropped the “eats” (but only in the name) and is now — because there’s so much more we want to share with you than just the delicious bites (but don’t worry, we’ll still share plenty of those!). 🦐🎶🎭

We feel this small change gives us a new avenue to showcase all that we love and experience in this city alongside the eats. From weekend festivals to new spots, second lines to street art, we want to show off all the things that make New Orleans the magic it is! We won’t be backing off of the local restaurants either cuz we all gotta eat.

This isn’t just a name change; it’s our love letter to every delicious, quirky, colorful corner of our city, with all of you along for the ride. Thank you to the people, businesses, and organizations that make the city what it is and an even bigger thank you to every one of our present and future followers for sticking around, following along, and engaging with us.

Cheers to Tales week y'all! 🥂

This whole week, How NOLA Eats turns to How NOLA Drinks. is one of those weeks we look forward to the most. People and Brands from all over the world come to town for this conference that supports our local economy and hospitality industry when we need it most (in the summer). Crazy promos, delicious drinks, and good food. What's not to love?!

We'll be out and about all week hopping around the city to highlight local venues/ bars along with new/ old brands and cocktails if y'all want to follow along in our stories.

We'll see y'all out there!

Caviar, but make it cajun. 🥂 Every now and then, I feel like being a little boujier than normal and treat myself to a glass of champs and local Louisiana caviar. on N. Rampart has both and they serve it with house potato chips and creme fraiche. Perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. And apparently there's a national day for caviar, so may as well celebrate that today!

Happy King Cake Friday! 🎭 Today's King Cake Friday goes out to this beautiful hunk of dough from . Head over to her new bakery off Orleans and show her some love.

I'm having a hard time coming to reality that the beginning of all weekend parades start in a week with popping off tomorrow! My body is not ready. Maybe more king cake will help
