The state of Louisiana deserves physician-led, team-based care. We urge you all to protect your patients and oppose scope of practice expansions by allied health professionals.

SCOPE BILLS TO OPPOSE:

➡️HB 495 - HB 495 which would allow APRNs to independently practice made it out of House Health and Welfare Committee and will be voted on on the House floor TODAY.

➡️HB 442 - HB 442 which would allow full practice authority for physician assistants made it out of House Health and Welfare Committee.

We encourage you all to contact your legislators to make your voice heard and OPPOSE HB 495 and HB 442!

OPPOSE HB 495: Medical School MATTERS!

The curriculum and training for physicians is substantially broader and more intense to ensure patient safety. The collaborative practice agreement provides patients with the comfort of knowing a physician is available should the need for more acute care become evident. There is nothing in the current structure of the collaborative practice agreement that prevents any nurse practitioner from providing care or providing care in a rural setting.

HB 495 gives to APRNs by legislation what they did not earn by education. We encourage everyone to take action and make sure your legislators know that MEDICAL SCHOOL MATTERS!

Support physician-led healthcare teams and join the Physician Coalition of Louisiana in opposing HB 495!

HB 495 gives to advanced practice registered nurses by
legislation what they did not earn by education - MEDICAL
SCHOOL MATTERS!

Since 2010, the Louisiana Legislature has debated 16
pieces of legislation regarding the nursing community and
their efforts to carve out ways to practice medicine – not
nursing. The physician community appreciates that the
legislature has continued to recognize the distinct
difference in education and training that sets the physician
apart from other healthcare providers.

Support physician-led healthcare teams and OPPOSE HB 495.
