Roaming Alpacas at
Inga [Incan] Pirka [Wall]
~some more dressed up than others, this guy is greeting tourists while waiting for a trim✂️
Ingapirca is an archaeological complex with ancient Incan and Cañari masonry, including an underground aqueduct system to provide water to the entire compound.
The Cañari were the first to settle in the area, their construction featured rocks in their mostly natural form, while the Incas cut the blocks so they fit together precisely. The two styles come together as the Inca empire decided to integrate the Cañari instead of conquering them. The space was shared but their respective customs were not. Though the Incas outnumbered the Cañari - they remained autonomous.
The ruins include the Temple of the Sun, other artifacts can be seen throughout the nearby trail along the Silante River. A peaceful and profound hike where nature gently ‘shushes’ you and intoxicates the area with my favorite scent.
