"I knew I was growing up when I realized:

1. Many of the issues that I had in my relationships were the result of unhealthy boundaries.

2. It wasn’t my job to fix people and meddle in their problems.

3. Gossiping is not the only way to connect in conversations.

4. Some people won’t change in a time-frame that works for what I want for my life.

5. I was getting upset with people for being themselves (I was expecting something different, from people who hadn’t changed).

6. People will be upset with you for things that have nothing to do with you (they are going through something.)

7. Asking for help is healthy.

8. It isn’t always them; sometimes it’s me."

Beautiful Souls!

My name is Jess, I am a 33 year Cuba-Rican Le***an that uses Her/She pronouns. I was born and raised in Chicago and currently reside in New Orleans where I am working on a Bachelors in Sociology. The snap shot of my life.

It has been almost 2 years since an idea fell on my lap. 2 years of it quietly and anxiously waiting for me to acknowledge it, FULLY. It’s funny how something can spring forward with such ferocity that it makes sense it took so long…it was building tension in preparation for the release.

So here we are, the very beginning. Now is the time to start somewhere.

Les Mariposx is an initiative towards more connection. Connection to oneself, to community, to society at large.

Below are my weapons of affirmation.

Being the change in order to see the change is key. We have the capacity to change.

As more people practice revolutionary self-love, everyday mindfulness, and awareness, we will continue to see a rise in a society that values humanity and the world. We have purpose.

Everyday people all over the world are connecting in community toward a more equitable and fair life through action…and winning. We can make an impact.

There is not enough awareness and promotion of resources, services, and products created by marginalized people. We can be supportive.

The internet is vast and we can use it as another tool to our collective benefit. We can reach out.

Though my heart is there, I have a lot of work to do – we all do. Know you are not alone, as I once heard a healer dressed in all white say warmly and soundly, “Breathe. As long you have your breath, you are never alone.”
