Krewe de Vieux (KDV) is a New Orleans treasure, skilled in the arts of irreverence and creative spectacle, with an unmatched ability to titillate our imaginations. But behind their saucy display lies a deep commitment to civic duty—a willingness to leap into action when it's time to save a life. Today's Heartbeat NOLA event, held in the inimitable confines of KDV's float den in Bywater, was unlike any other. It might just be our most captivating AED installation to date. We explored sudden cardiac arrest, how to recognize it, respond effectively, and administer lifesaving techniques like CPR, AED use, and NARCAN. A heartfelt thank you goes out to Melissa Morris of Krewe de Vieux for helping to orchestrate this vital gathering, and to everyone who supported Heartbeat NOLA.
