Pilates from a Yoga Teacher’s POV 👀

Lately, I’ve been exploring how different mindful movement practices can support each other.

As a yoga instructor, I’ve spent 6 years on the yoga mat teaching, breathing, flowing.

But when I embarked on my Pilates journey 3 months ago, the movements felt similar…yet completely new.

Both cultivate mindful movements and balance; just from different directions.

🧘🏽‍♀️Yoga connects body and mind through breath and flow, improving flexibility, balance, and inner calm.

Pilates challenges me differently.
More precision, move smaller, slower, same mindfulness.

🔥 Pilates builds deep core strength, stability, and connection to the core; helping your posture and power from the inside out.

💡 My takeaway: Yoga and Pilates aren’t competitors; they’re companions. Mixing the two helps you move smarter, recover faster and feel stronger overall. Don’t stick to just one style! Your body loves variety for optimal results.

Never underestimate the power of a hug. 🤗
In a world that moves fast, a genuine embrace can slow us down, reconnect us, and remind our bodies what it feels like to be safe and seen. Hugs are a form of self-care; not just emotionally, but physiologically.

✨Just 20 seconds of hugging can boost oxytocin levels, lower cortisol, and reduce blood pressure. It’s one of the simplest ways to tell the nervous system: “You are loved. You are not alone.” ✨

Action: Give a hug to someone you care about or hug yourself!

In this season of my life, I am trusting GOD for everything.
The highs, the lows, the joy, the laughter, and even the chapters still unwritten. I’m learning to rest in His timing, lean on His grace, and believe that every part of the journey has purpose. It’s not always easy but it’s always worth it.

A gentle reminder for World Mental Health Day.

How often do we carry stress, pain, or fear in silence; pushing through, pretending we’re fine?

But your body knows.
It whispers before it screams.
Tight shoulders. Tired eyes. That heavy feeling in your chest. These are not signs of weakness. They’re invitations to slow down, breathe, and ask for support.

You don’t have to do it all alone.
You’re allowed to rest.
You’re allowed to be cared for.

In yoga, we practice listening to the breath, the body, the truth within.

So today…
Take a moment.
Tune in.
Trust your body.
And remember: most of the suffering we fear never actually happens.

You are stronger and more supported than you know.

Closing out Black History Month with this feature.

“Recently, one of my yoga students told me she was moving to a new state. She was kind, respectful and a was joy to have in class. When her mom picked up from her last class, she told me how much my yoga class had helped to heal her daughter’s heart. She went on to say that her father abandoned her 5 years ago and it has been very challenging for her at times. She said yoga brought her so much peace. I gave her mother a huge hug, shed lots of happy tears and thanked her for sharing her precious daughter with me. I don’t take the work that I do lightly. Instances like this remind me that the work I am doing is extremely important to my students, their parents and our world!” - Cne’
