Together, we reflected on the impact of Hurricane Katrina and the heroic efforts of our team members caring for our patients. To commemorate the anniversary, we unveiled "Roots of Resilience," a painting by Cheryl Anne Grace, to reflect Touro's roots within the community and the growth we experienced as a result of Hurricane Katrina.

Congratulations to the 2025 Kaplan Compassionate Physician Honoree, Louis Paul du Treil, M.D.! Dr. Murrel H. Kaplan was Chief of Internal Medicine at Touro from 1957-1962 and served his patients and the hospital with distinction as a member of the medical staff for 50 years. The Kaplan Compassionate Physician Award is given annually to an active physician affiliated with Touro Infirmary who demonstrates the characteristics of compassion and caring. Closing out Men's Health Month, Touro patient, Amazing Agers participant, and Prostate Cancer survivor, Gregory Jackson shares how Touro helped him in his health journey. Men between the ages of 40-50 should get screened every one to four years, depending on their PSA levels and other factors. Prostate cancer screening can help find prostate cancer early, when treatment is most effective.
