i’ve spent nearly 10 years working with my therapist to not see life in black and white. to not see life as all or nothing. life is grey (& I don’t mean the color.) it’s messy & complicated. there’s times I remember that and then there are times i find myself stuck on one side or the other.
i’ve also worked to remind myself that a bad day doesn’t equal a bad life. a bad moment doesn’t make a bad day. seasons fade. dark becomes light. old chapters end. new chapters begin.
this chapter you’re going through sis? it won’t last forever. things will get better. hold on, great things are coming.
and if you’re in a wonderful chapter of life, things might get hard again and that’s normal. that’s the roller coaster of life. so be thankful and hold on to the sunshine you’re under right now and know that next time you’re standing under your umbrella in a storm, your rainbow is coming again soon.

POSES ARE POWERFUL....these pictures were taken 15 seconds apart, yet my body looks completely different.
On the left, my leggings are pulled down, forcing my skin to be “smooshed” in different directions and I’m slumped over in horrible posture (which, if I’m being honest, is my normal position more often than not because I work from home 🤦🏼♀️.)
On the right, I’ve got my shoulders pulled back, my hips twisted & my leg popped a bit.
Yes, the first picture is a lil dramatic, but so is the second. I don’t stand or walk around like either of these in real life. & neither does anyone else.
My point is this: don’t compare yourself to what you see in IG. You don’t know the behind the scenes. Yes, some people have bodies like both of these pictures and they are equally as incredible because...YOUR BODY IS BEAUTIFUL. Your body gets you through your best & worst days & you should feel proud of that.
We ALL have days where we look in the mirror & don’t like what we see and find ourselves comparing, creating a cycle of negative thoughts.
I’m going to challenge you here: next time you have one of those days, I want you to close out Instagram for at least an hour. I want you stand in the mirror in superwoman pose (hands on hips, feet wide apart, shoulders back & staring confidently forward) & list 5 things that you love about yourself. Whether it’s about your body or your personality. FIVE THINGS. Say them out loud. Then write them down & tape them to your mirror to look at when you begin to feel this way again. Each time, try adding to that list.
I have about 15 affirmations I repeat to myself every morning (or several times a day) & I cannot tell you how much of a difference it has made in my life. I thought it was stupid & would never work and I felt so silly (& sometimes still do) but overtime, I found myself walking away from the mirror BELIEVING what I had told myself.
I challenge you to write down a few affirmations and every day, for 7 days, repeat them to yourself in the mirror. See how you feel after 7 days. Start with “I am enough. All that I need is within me. I forgive myself.” Add your own from there.
What affirmations do you say to yourself?

new profile pic, who dis?

2 things:
1. Obviously posting a bikini pic to get y’all ready for the beach content coming your way in two days.
And most importantly, 2.... this picture is from almost two years ago. I’ve never posted it. Why? Because I felt I looked “manly.” I have had people hide behind a keyboard and tell me I looked like a man because of my arms. So when this picture was taken, I thought my arms were too bulky. Now I look back and am like, “Okay sis, you were working your @$$ off and it showed and there’s nothing wrong with that.” Our bodies change and fluctuate so much and it’s hard to believe when I look back now at what I felt when I saw this picture. Because two years later I see someone who was strong as heck and had nothing to be embarrassed about. I wish I had ignored those internet trolls. So this is a friendly PSA that you should post the picture. Ignore the haters and be confident in your skin. Because in two years when you look back, you’ll give yourself a high five and big hell yeah and maybe even be your own inspiration!!
We only get one body....it’s a gift that we should cherish!

Morning or night, your body is incredible no matter it’s shape or size. Belly bloat is 100000% normal and we all experience it....especially when we’ve nourished our bodies by eating and drinking all day! Life is too short to stress over bloat. Enjoy the day and all that it brings and know you are worthy and loved and needed!!!

I’m 28 years old, living my life in a House of Balance. I love to go out with friends for drinks, eat pasta, sushi and Taco Bell as often as possible and balance all that out with a 25 minute workout each day.
However, about 8 years ago, my life looked vastly different. I was battling depression and anxiety living an unhealthy lifestyle. Not only did I lack the motivation to build a House of Balance, I was unaware that life could be lived any other way. Fast forward a few months, I decided to compete in pageants in honor of my Nana, who was Miss Tennessee 1957. One of the phases of competition is “lifestyle and fitness” aka swimwear. Knowing I was going to be up on a stage, being scored on how healthy I lived my life, gave me purpose, a passion for fitness and the tools to begin building my House of Balance.
However, I went from one extreme to the other. I went from an unhealthy lifestyle to one that was unrealistic to maintain. I was working out twice a day, six days a week, eating the bare minimum in order to prepare for the Lifestyle & Fitness competition. This was unhealthy in its own way.
Even though I was pulled out of my depression because of pageants and fitness, after my last year of competition, I realized I was struggling to find a balance between my old lifestyle and my new. I developed a negative relationship with food, fitness and my “post-pageant body”. I constantly heard voices in my head saying, “You shouldn’t eat that” even though I had barely eaten all day or I felt guilty after enjoying a glass of wine or a sweet treat.
When I moved to New York City in 2016, I realized how much life I was missing out on because I was so concerned about what I was eating and how much I was working out. I realized that either extreme I put myself through (overindulging in food or working out to the extreme), I wasn’t truly happy. But in May 2017, I got a job working for Equinox, an exclusive fitness gym in NYC. I witnessed my friends who were personal trainers enjoying their life, going out for drinks, eating what they wanted but also pushing themselves during their daily workouts. They had a balance that resulted in a life of joy that I was not only determined to achieve, but also enthusiastic to share with women (& men) everywhere. I received my personal training certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine in February of 2019 and began working towards finding a way to share this lifestyle with you.
So that bring us here - to the House of Balance. This is an online fitness program featuring daily 25 minute workouts where I will not only coach you through but also workout with you every step of the way whenever your schedule allows. Minimal time and equipment with maximum effort allows you to find that attainable balance between your busy schedule and living your best life. Yes, fitness is close to my heart but my real passion is helping others and I am here to help you build your House of Balance. Are you ready to start construction?
