Wild Bunch Special Olympics

Wild Bunch Special Olympics Wild Bunch Special Olympics provides sports training and competition for people with intellectual disabilities of all ages in New Ulm and surrounding area.

The Wild Bunch Special Olympics team is founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities can, with proper instruction and encouragement, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports, adapted as necessary to meet the needs of those with intellectual and physical disabilities. We believe that consistent training is essential to the development of sports s

kills, and that competition among those of equal abilities is the most appropriate means of testing these skills, measuring progress and providing incentives for personal growth. The Wild Bunch as part of Special Olympics Minnesota believes that through sports training and competition, people with intellectual disabilities benefit physically, mentally and socially; families are strengthened; and the community at large, both through participation and observation, is united in understanding people with intellectual disabilities in an environment of equality, respect and acceptance. Our Values:
Respect – Valuing and accepting human differences and the unique abilities of all people in our communities

Accomplishment - Celebrating the fulfillment of individual potential

Choice - Providing opportunities for self-determination

Quality - Striving for excellence in all we do

Partnership - Achieving more than we can alone by collaborating with others

Integrity - Fostering a culture based on the highest standards of personal and professional principles

Pics from the Regional Tournament at Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday. As coaches and administrators, we couldn’t be more proud of our athletes! Their dedication to their fellow athletes, leadership, compassion for others, sportsmanship and commitment to our organization is something we all can learn from. It is truly an honor to know each and every one of them! ❤️ A special thank you to family and friends that made the trip to come watch us play, we couldn’t do it without your support too! (Maybe next year I’ll get you some proper pom poms and foam fingers!😉)
Enjoy some snapshots…

Our program is growing with leaps and bounds!!
Because of this, we are looking for some help!! Please let me know if you can be of assistance with any of the following:

1. Track Coach - 1 day/week (Wednesdays) for 1 hour. We need some volunteers to help run practices as we have about 20 athletes this year!! Needed immediately.

2. Golf Coach - we could still use some more help on the golf course this year. 1 day/week (Thursdays) for 1 hour starting in July. New Ulm Golf Course.
**Coaches must be at least 18 years of age or older. Graduating high school golfers, retired coaches or just people that enjoy the game would be amazing! You don’t even have to be any good! Lol

3. We need 2 - left handed adult golf club sets.

4. We need up to 4 - junior golf club sets.

5. We need 3 ladies golf club sets.
** the clubs need to be in good condition for a reasonable price or donated as funds are limited.

If you can help with any of these items, please contact Teresa Larson at 507-227-5955

Our full court team does not have a state basketball tournament this year due to MN hosting the SO World Games. We would like to add a game to our team's schedule sometime in early May. We are looking for a few people, organizations or groups that might like to play some unified basketball with our team or bring a team to play against us!
If you play high school or college basketball, haven't played in years or want to challenge your church group or fire department, please let me know! The athletes love this sport and deserve to play an additional game before we close the season.
Thank you!
