What happens when your child is struggling with suicidal ideation, out of control behavior, eating concerns, dissociative episodes and complex PTSD and you feel you have no where to turn?

Not every therapist is trained in crisis intervention and working with an intensive model framework.

While most child and teenage clients do fine with once or twice a week therapy, some situations call for intensive therapeutic support daily to help child and family through a crisis.

Whether it’s doing intensive therapy to help heal the trauma or crisis intervention and stabilization, I am glad I can offer this option to my clients.

It’s another day, another week and I’m proud that I go the extra mile to help my clients.

Why read to your kids?

It’s one of the best ways to help your child gain literacy skills and a good advantage when it comes to learning 👍

And it’s also all about connecting with your kids ❤️🌺💃🏻

Kids typically get obsessed with a series of books and ask parents to read those books over and over again… and that’s the joy of childhood!

What’s something you can do in 2-5 minutes to connect to your kids?

So many moms think that they need a lot of time to connect to their kids or else and it’s either all or nothing…

This is NOT true.

Kids thrive on connection. While spending lots of time with your kids is nice, 2-5 minutes of love and connection is priceless!!!

Over 350 moms have taken my Playful Parenting course which is built around the 2-5 minute method of connecting to your kids.

Many moms reported that this concept changed their families lives for the better!

And that’s because we spend time with them anyway so why not connect?

Want to improve your child’s mental health?

There’s one thing you can do to improve their mental health- get them off their screens!

There’s definitely research showing how kids do better without screens. AND, if you’re asking me, I will tell you how much better kids do emotionally and behaviorally when they aren’t glued to their screens 💪

You can do it! Don’t be afraid to take away their screens. Your children deserve happy, healthy lives. There will be more than enough time to have screens later in life.

Did you ever want to get parenting support or therapy and just feel like you didn’t have the time to drive to the expert you wanted to work with?

Zoom to the rescue! No matter where you are, you can now access therapy!

As a child and family therapist for 25 years, I will always like meeting children and families in person. Yet, I have learned that Zoom works well for parenting, family therapy and trauma therapy as well if there’s no other option.

Distance or lack of time should not get in the way of getting help. As a parent, you deserve to get support for yourself and your family ❤️🌺❤️

Who doesn’t like a good parenting hack?

Do you have 10 seconds?

Eye contact is critical to connecting with your kids. And it doesn’t require anything other than 10 seconds or less.

Smiling doesn’t take more than half a second. And it’s easy to do!

Making parenting FUN again usi neg this 10second hack ❤️

Why do parents hate playing with their kids?

There are many reasons but the main one I hear in my therapy office is 1. It’s boring 2. I have things to do and 3. Isn’t it to keep kids busy?

Play serves many benefits to kids and is an important part of kids development. And as parents, we can learn to play with our kids in a way that doesn’t bore us to death or take up all our time.

2 minutes here and 5 minutes there of playful interacting with our kids can reap many benefits!

It’s a foundation that I talk about throughout my course, Playful Parenting ❤️

What’s my favorite question to ask parents, moms especially when they come in with their children for help?

Hands down- it’s “what didn’t you like about your childhood that you don’t want to repeat with your family”?

This gives parents so much food for thought and helps us work together to create a happy, safe, stable home together ❤️

When it comes to raising struggling kids, should we go tough with them or be gentle and connecting?

There’s a saying “ A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down” and I totally agree 👩‍🦰

Of course, a parent must be the one to run the household, set the rules and maintain order. But it doesn’t have to be rigid and unforgiving…

And when your child is struggling, sugar and honey will go way further than salt while you’re trying to set limits.

Always try to connect, listen and love ❤️

Listening to your kids is really important on so many levels! Listening to your child helps them feel understood, creates a close connection and teaches them that they can come to mom or dad when they have a problem instead of turning to other people who don’t share your value system.

As a mother and father, you have so much power in setting the stage for your kids to trust in you and come to you when they need a listening ear. And you can do it!

Want to build with your children?

He key is to listen to your kids. I know, easier said than done… but you don’t need to fix problems that you don’t know how to handle.

A listening ear is the beginning of providing a safe space for your child and letting them know you’re there for them.

And in a challenging world, you definitely want your kids turning to you when they have questions and need support!
