This weekend has been a painful and horrific one for so many of us πŸ’”.. (personally, it's been hitting me harder as I begin to connect with loved ones in a region that is suffering right now) 😒..

While we each may have our opinions and concerns about world events.. in times of overwhelming emotions πŸ₯Ί and heartbreaking news πŸ’”.. it is essential to continue to embrace the power of self-care πŸ«ΆπŸ’•

Despite my commitments, obligations, and responsibilities today.. I am choosing to intentionally engage in some Self-Care Sunday practices.. and wanted to share them with you πŸ‘‡

πŸ”Œ Unplug: Today, I am giving myself permission to step away from the constant stream of news and social media updates.. even if it's just for a little while.. sometimes the best way to recharge is to simply unplug πŸ™

🌬️ Breathe: Taking slow, deep breaths.. Inhale positivity.. exhale negativity and stress.. It's amazing how a few mindful breaths can restore a sense of calm 😌

🌿 Nature Therapy: Once I post this, I am going to spend time outdoors.. soak in the beauty of nature.. and find solace in its serenity.. A walk in the park πŸ‘Ÿ.. or simply sitting outside in the fresh air can be incredibly soothing πŸŒ€οΈπŸ•ΆοΈπŸƒ

πŸ§˜πŸ½β€β™€οΈ Mindfulness: As I do this, I'm going to practice being present in the moment.. Engage in activities that brings me joy helps me immerse myself fully in them ✨

🀳 Reach Out: I will continue to connect with loved ones.. Sharing one's thoughts.. as well as lend a listening ear πŸ‘‚.. Sometimes, talking about feelings can be incredibly cathartic πŸ’¨

πŸ™πŸΎ Gratitude: I will take a moment to reflect on the positive aspects of life.. knowing that by expressing gratitude, we can shift our focus towards hope and optimism πŸ«ΆπŸ’•

Ultimately, (and especially in times of stress and sadness) when we nurture ourselves.. we become better equipped to nurture the well-being of others.. and the world we live in.. as we work to promote empathy.. understanding.. and peace πŸŒπŸ•ŠοΈπŸ’—βœŒοΈ

As a Master Certified Health Coach, I couldn't be more excited to honor National Kale Day today! πŸ₯—βœ¨.. Kale is not just a leafy green.. it's a nutritional powerhouse that deserves to be in the spotlight πŸ”¦.. Originating in Asia Minor and the Eastern Mediterranean, kale has been cultivated for consumption as far back as 2000 B.C.

Kale is one of my personal favorites, and for good reason.. It's packed with fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants, making it a superfood in the world of healthy eating πŸ’ͺ🍽️.. Whether you enjoy it raw in salads, lightly steamed, or blended into smoothies, kale offers a wide range of health benefits.

πŸ₯¬ Rich in Nutrients: Kale is a fantastic source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as minerals like calcium and potassium. It's like nature's multivitamin πŸ’Š

πŸ₯¬ Antioxidant Powerhouse: Kale is loaded with antioxidants that help combat free radicals and reduce the risk of chronic diseases πŸ“‰

πŸ₯¬ Fiber for Digestion: Its high fiber content supports a healthy digestive system and can aid in weight management βš–οΈ

πŸ₯¬ Versatile and Delicious: Kale is incredibly versatile in the kitchen. You can use it in salads, soups, stir-fries, or even as a crunchy snack when baked into kale chips πŸ₯—πŸ²πŸ₯˜

For me, National Kale Day is not just about promoting healthy eating but also about sharing something I truly enjoy with my loved ones πŸ’•πŸ₯°.. I often make and share my kale salads at get-togethers because it's a simple yet delicious way to introduce others to this incredible leafy green πŸ₯—

✨PRO TIP: When making kale salads, massaging the kale is an essential to enhancing its texture and tasteβ˜οΈπŸ’‘.. (kale leaves can be tough and slightly bitter when raw).. Massaging the kale helps break down its tough cell structure and makes it more tender. To do this, place the kale in a bowl, add a small amount of olive oil, lemon juice, or your preferred salad dressing, and gently massage the leaves with your hands. After massaging, let the kale sit for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the dressing to further soften the leaves, infuse them with flavor and make all the difference with you salad πŸ˜‰
