Dr. Yolanda Hawkins-Rodgers is a licensed psychologist and licensed professional counselor and certified clinical supervisor. She is also a clinical consultant for the Department of Child Protection and Permanency for New Jersey.
Dr. Hawkins-Rodgers held the position of chair of the Department of Psychology and Counseling Fairleigh Dickinson university in New Jersey. After an extensive career in academia Dr. Hawkins-Rodgers decided to concentrate more on her private practice in Northern New
Jersey. Her focus has been on implementing therapeutic interventions that focus on the lifespan and the developmental needs of children, adolescents and adults.
Dr. Hawkins-Rodgers has indicated in her work that healing often takes place when the inner child in each of us can be reached. She has combined her experiences as an educator, researcher, and mental health professional and international traveler to develop an adult therapeutic coloring book with a twist! The coloring book has drawings that capture actual moments adults face in the healing process and attempts to make them relevant while tapping into the child in all of us. Each drawing also attempts to represent different nationalities to depict the universality of the human condition and spirit.
For Dr. Hawkins-Rodgers’ patients, the healing begins with her recently published a book entitled “Feelings, a Therapeutic Coloring Book for Grown-Ups.” She believes, “It is through non-judgmental coloring that suppressed mental issues can truly be addressed.”
