Your Digestion and Mood
When digestion is compromised, our bodies can under-produce neurotransmitters, like serotonin. (95 percent of serotonin is produced in the small intestine.) Low serotonin is attributed to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Often cleaning up your diet may relieve brain fog, sadness, and low energy.
How to support Healthy Digestion?
• Consume real, whole, organic foods grown without pesticides.
• Avoid processed foods like bacon, sausage, foods preserved with toxic chemicals.
• Avoid sugar in all forms, including agave, honey, maple syrup, artificial sweeteners.
• Avoid smoking, alcohol, candy, pastry, fried foods, rotten foods, caffeine.
• Add fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, seaweed, fermented foods like sauerkraut, miso.
• Add non-gluten whole grains millet, buckwheat, beans, legumes.
