DAY 6
Natural Substances: 2 Teas My Son Used to Like
ONION THYME TEA
Onion has a natural antibiotic property. The taste is quite mild.
Take ½ medium onion. Cover with water in a saucepan and bring to boil. Turn down and cover with lid. Simmer 15-20 minutes. Toss in a large pinch of dried thyme (a large pinch is held in all 4 fingers). Simmer 5-10 minutes more. Turn off and let sit for 5 minutes. In a large cup or bowl squeeze ½ to 1 lemon (depending on the size). Add the strained broth.
GINGER CAYENNE TEA
Cayenne is stimulating and at the same time soothing to the mucus membranes.
Take a piece of ginger the size of two fingers. If your hand is small make it 3 fingers. Cover with water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Turn down and simmer as above. Turn off and sprinkle in cayenne. Make it as hot as you can stand it. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes. In a large bowl or cup, squeeze the lemon juice. Add the strained broth.
OPTIONAL: You may add honey sparingly to either recipe.
