Preventing cystitis requires combining hydration, diet, and hygiene. Drink plenty of water to flush bacteria from the urinary tract. Avoid bladder irritants such as coffee, alcohol, and spicy foods. Include probiotic foods to maintain healthy urinary flora. Wear breathable clothing and cotton underwear to reduce moisture accumulation. Practice proper hygiene and wipe front to back. Urinate after sexual activity and do not hold urine for long periods. Recognize early symptoms such as burning or frequent urination, and seek medical care promptly to prevent recurrent infections.
