It's back to school week! Ensuring a smooth transition for your kids is key to a successful start. A strong routine can make all the difference. From playtime to bedtime, creating a schedule fosters familiarity and reduces stress and anxiety for everyone. Adequate sleep sets them up for a productive day ahead. On average children need between 9-13 hrs of sleep while adults need between 7 - 9 hrs.

As a parent to a child with both ADHD and mental health struggles, I cannot stress adequate sleep enough. Even with my little one, and with children I used to babysit before becoming a parent myself, the lack of adequate sleep makes them hyperactive during the day, cranky, even really anxious and sometimes worse.

As an adult we might think we are exempt from the side effects of sleep deprivation but we’re not. You see, when we sleep, and I mean everyone, our brains get to process what happened during the day, the things we learned, things we experienced, and our bodies get to reset so that we start fresh. When we disrupt this process, we are piling on more things for our body to sort out in a shorter period of time contributing to physical and mental stress and over time, a serious imbalance.

French. Calme is French for calm. Doi! Many moons ago, I was so into going out on my own and I needed a name so I asked clients at the time why did they keep coming back or what did they look forward to during and after our session and the answer for many was "calm" plain and simple. When they got on the table, they didn't have to answer to anyone, just breathe and let go of all the tensions they've been holding onto and realize for themselves that everything was going to be ok, with my help ofcourse.
I would love to speak French one day. Especially since I can not escape them. Story of my life!

Definitely flats, although if anyone knows how to run in stilettos or train to run in stilettos, and can teach me, I might reconsider.

Actually, the truth is I know a little too much about the science behind the make up of our feet and it got me to appreciate mine much more for what they are. The size , arches and curves of the feet all have a purpose and stilettos, although sexy do not support any of these purposes. They actually make it harder. The feet are first part of your body to receive impact from the steps we take on whatever surface we walk on, and the spacing between our toes, the arch, the bottom surface of our feet are built so it absorbs the shock on impact. When you wear stilettos ,or any type of heel really, you limit your feet's ability to evenly disperse this shock upon impact by squeezing your toes together , relying on the balls of your feet first, forgetting the arch and going directly to the heels. Over time this hurts your ankles and travels upwards causing damage to your knees and back, sometimes even cause headaches, simply because your feet weren't able to evenly disperse the shock on impact so it's not as harsh on the rest of your skeletal frame.

Flat flats aren't the best either because they don't support your arches either. I used to love running around barefeet, but flipflops were so painful. Ideally you want a little wedge on your shoes or sneakers. This supports the structure of your feet and happy feet make for a happy body. Something I see a lot in my practice is aches stemming from tense, ill-supported feet. While I do work on the feet, I don't really go in depth with reflexology. Instead, I use it the tell me what parts of the body is off balance, and I like to encourage people to roll out their feet because it really does feel good afterwards. a tennis ball or golf ball will do. I'll share a video soon on how I roll out my feet.

Anyway, all this to say, you will most likely find me in platform sneakers/ booties, and duckies(crocs) at work.

hmmm... dosas with pepperjack cheese, spinach, curried veggies maybe, and mango chutney, and coconut chutney, but dosas in general are awesome because it can be eaten anytime of the day and it can be topped with anything and still be yummy. French pastries are good too and fresh fruits.
