It's okay to stand in the power of being exactly who you are!
Acceptance is not defeat. Knowledge is power!
"Pay attention to your breathing. Your breathing is the key to how things are going for you." - Dr. Keba
Breathe deeply this weekend!
"Try harder to see the unseen and hear the unsaid. Developing our sense of self-and social-awareness helps us to be mindful of intention behind critique, encouraging our own growth and development." -Dr. Keba
Feel ALL the feelings. Breathe, feel, acknowledge, and heal.

Real talk - not all feedback is constructive! So when you have the privilege of receiving constructive feedback, use it for your growth and development.
Pay attention to what's going on IN you and AROUND you. Ground yourself in self-awareness!
"Extend grace. During difficult interactions with others, suspend judgment for a moment and imagine what the person is going through or how they might feel based on what they're telling you. That is how we extend grace." - Dr. Keba
Expect mistakes and the growth that comes along with them. Learn, grow, move forward!

Every hero, real or fictional, has a supporter!
Some of our cultural points of pride are really just our trauma morphing into negative coping strategies over generations. Let that marinate.
"Heal, so you don’t have to give a sarcastic tone to uplifting messages. Heal, so you never have to make anyone else the object of your own frustration. Heal, so when someone tells you they love you, you may allow yourself to believe them." – Banff Wellness Retreat
Pain is as pain does. Stop trying to tell people why they shouldn't be hurt. Instead, ask if there is anything that you can do to help them.
Say this out loud: other people are not responsible for my hurt AND I have to be willing to choose healing at all costs.
"As every therapist will tell you, healing involves discomfort. But so is refusing to heal. And over time, refusing to heal is always more painful." – Resmaa Menakem
We can always choose healing, even in the midst of our trauma!

Sometimes we can overlook the importance of building rapport with children. They need to know that we are really there for them, we see them, and we value them for who they are (not just their achievements).
"One of the most important things that we can do as educators is to help students feel safe at school: physically, socially, and emotionally." - Dr. Keba
Breathe while you feel. Don't let feelings take your breath away.
Read that again. Slowly.
Be more. Fear less. Do it afraid.

Instead of holding your breath, exhale - fully and completely. Try it with me - deep breath in through your nose, hold it, let it go through your mouth.
READ THAT AGAIN... OUT LOUD!
Sometimes we have to employ mind over matter!
