We are very excited for Big Bronx in a couple of weekends!

This weekend, Stuy policy became the United States federal government by spending the weekend in our nation's capital, debating at the Georgetown Day School Invitational. We couldn't have asked for a better start to the year, coming out of it with 3 bids, the top 2 seeds, 5 speaker awards including the top 2 speakers, and a tournament W!!!
Stuy HC (Jenny and Luola) went 7-0 and finished 1st seed, picking up the bid on their way to the finals round, which will be held at a later date. On top of that, Jenny was 1st speaker, and Luola was 2nd. They only dropped one ballot the entire tournament!
Stuy DS (David and Isaac) went 6-1 and finished 2nd seed, also snagging a bid and dropping on a 2-1 in semifinals. David was 4th speaker, and Isaac was 7th. Lack still not filled though.
Stuy FW (Julianna and Matteo) went 5-2 and finished as the 8th seed, coming off with a ghost bid after getting walked over by HC in quarterfinals. Matteo was also 6th speaker!
Stuy AC (Ayham and Jeffrey) had a strong showing as sophomores at their first ever varsity tournament, and are looking forward to topping their current record the next time they come to GDS.
None of this would have been possible without the incredible on-site coaching of Corinne Sugino and new Stuy coach Emmanuel Ruiz, who have been powering this squad through. We also want to extend a huge thanks to jon sharp and Judy Butler for hosting yet another amazing tournament. It was an honor and a privilege to attend, and the seniors on the team are sad that this is their last time coming thru. Finally, we want to extend a huge congratulations to Berkeley Prep Debate and Brooklyn Tech Debate for fantastic tournament runs full of speaker awards, bids, and wins. It's gonna be a good year for K debate!!!!
