Pain is often a signal that our body is holding onto toxins or has become deficient in something. One of the first assessments many acupuncturists make in treatment is clearing “aggressive (toxic) energy” from the body. The acupuncture points on the back, along the mighty Bladder channel is the best way to clear toxic energy. Assisted by the powerful Governor vessel which runs along the spine- we can both detox and strengthen at once. This is symptom relief but also longevity wellness.

So much wisdom gets channeled in the acupuncture treatment room with patients. We are really working together as a team. Today, as I was using the ancient mysterious “ghost points” of acupuncture on a patient with an autoimmune condition, she sparked discussion of the “vaporization of phlegm” concept inherent in the treatment strategy of these points. I never fully connected these points to this concept. And yet it fully fits. I told her the strategy is to allow the spirit energy of the heart to become so great that it overpowers the condition, allowing it to disappear. Yet we have to become a different person in a sense as well. The condition can not persist when we change our vibration: our consciousness. This idea is also shared by Einstein. We call on a more subtle part of our being to pull us out of our stuck state of being. We transcend our condition, rather than toil to resolve it. Her eyes lit up. Her pulses improved. Her spirit energy filled the room. She is on her way. And I learned something new.

Throughout my career as a healer, it’s always the patients who push me to be and do more than I realize I can. They have pulled from me abilities I never knew I had. All based on necessity. I sometimes I wonder if I’m tapping into the collective conscious, pulling out wisdom and insight to help others. I don’t know. But what I do know is it always happens in the treatment room when I’m working as a healer. This is a blessing, and I’m always grateful to get to do and be what/who I’m asked to. 🙏🙌❤️

The therapeutic process that occurs within my acupuncture healing sessions is body-mind-spirit. For example, the patient sets an intention, which may come out through symptoms or show itself in pulse diagnosis. The acupuncture points that the body “asks for” are treated. And then we dialogue about the meaning of the points: the “spirit of the point” as my teacher calls it. From this we unlock unconscious memory, stuck energy, internal wisdom. Insights are sparked, emotion is released. Trauma unearthed. It is a magical healing, cathartic experience.

Difficult times in the external world can demand from us all a time of reflection. What are we collectively doing wrong? How did we get here? Eastern philosophy teaches what’s happening “out there” might have a lot in common with what’s happening within us. Hence the importance of looking within. My latest article discusses opening the heart protector to deal with difficult times. Link below:

I recall a Buddhist teacher advising us: “feel your feelings. Keep it short!” Keep it moving! The best point to help this might be SI-7 “upright branch.” It treats emotional stagnation of all types. The classic medical term is SI-7 “invigorates or quickens the connecting vessels.” This means it speeds up and empowers the feeling process. Our ability to cycle through emotions. It’s located on the small intestine acupuncture channel whose role it is to “separate the pure from the turbid,” sorting food and drink but also mental-emotional material. Press this point while meditating on a stuck emotion and allow it to move and transform.
