What’s the first thing you thought about? The red balloon of course!

When you make attempts to push away or avoid certain things, the opposite happens.

Avoidance may help you feel good in the moment, but in the long term, it may actually make it more difficult to face that fear or worry.

⭐️It’s important to check in with yourself.

⭐️Working throughout a pandemic, often without sick days or vacations, has been extremely difficult for so many of us.

⭐️It’s important to check in with yourself daily to see how you’re feeling and to gauge your level of stress.

⭐️As your stress levels build, your body and mind begin to feel those effects. That’s why it’s important to check in with yourself, know where you are in the cycle, and intervene as soon as possible so that you don’t end up in the red.

What do you do when you’re experiencing big feelings? Sometimes it’s hard to know what to do. Here’s what I suggest:

⭐️Accept the feeling: It’s happening and the more you try to stop yourself from feeling it, the stronger it’ll become.

⭐️Be kind to yourself: Say goodbye to your should nots and negative labels. “I should not be feeling this way” or “I’m foolish for feeling this way” are very common thoughts. However, it’s important to be kind to yourself and allow yourself to feel whatever it is you’re feeling. Your feelings are valid, even if it’s doesn’t seem that way in the moment.

⭐️Choose a path forward: What’s going to be most helpful to you in this moment? Is it taking some time for yourself or perhaps taking some deep breaths?
