Are you living a life with more consumption than creation?

Our world today has so many new ways to be entertained, stay connected. But when these things become distractions from our highest self, they can lead to addictions that don’t really serve us.

Are you mostly just consuming what’s around? Meaning, just picking up that dopamine hit from anything that comes your way, mindlessly floating through life on what others are putting out? Or are you living a life full of intention, directed at a higher good, chasing real dopamine that is connecting with yourself and others & the act of doing what you say?

Some examples of consumption are:
❌Mindlessly eating
❌Scrolling social media
❌Binge watching shows
❌Retail therapy aka shopping
❌Engaging in gossip
❌Reacting to every stimulus that comes your way
❌Just hoarding info but never acting on it.

Examples of creation are:
✅Taking a walk, getting in a workout
✅Cooking a homemade meal
✅Creating content for your business
✅Helping someone in need
✅Decluttering your closet instead of buying new clothes all the time
✅Meditating
✅Doing something that lights you up
✅Putting into work something you have learned

When you’re just living in consumption mode, you’re not leading. You are literally sleepwalking and taking in that sparkly object comes your way.

When you’re living in creation mode you’re coming from a place of purpose and higher power. You’re putting out something into the world that means something to you and for others. You’re contributing to the greater good for you and for all.

It’s not to say that you can’t enjoy consuming from time to time. Like eating that amazing dessert, watching a movie you wanted to see or buying an item you saved for. It’s when we spend too much time taking things in on autopilot. These may look like fun activities but can become addictive & may not align with our bigger goals.

What are some ways you live in creation mode? Let’s hear from you below! ⬇️

When we rest, we process 💫💫💫

Just like certain foods can help us detox, real rest and recharging is needed as well to detox our minds and bodies.

Not just what we consume as far as meals but what you read, what you watch and who consumes your energy or time can either give you life or suck the life out of you!

We can be at times too overworked to process what all of this is doing to us.
Too busy to understand our feelings, by running, producing, consuming, over scheduling, without really connecting to our core self to help make more informed decisions.

Here’s a shot from me on my vacation where I was feeling totally alive, present and well rested. I was able to access parts of me that I haven’t felt in a long time. Silly belly laughs, moments of complete serenity, gratitude for all I have achieved, for what’s to come, blessed for the humans who I am surrounded with, for the job that allows me to fulfill my passion to help heal others.

Sometimes it’s hard to access all the good when you’re in the hustle so taking time to unplug can help recharge your battery and breathe new life into your current one.

Raise your hand 🙋 if you can relate! How do you rest and recharge?

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard this.

Sure you will lose weight if you are on a diet. But what you may not know is that long time dieting comes with a price.

Think before you jump into the next fad diet and ask yourself these:

💪🏼Will it preserve or deplete hormone function
💪🏼Be sustainable long term
💪🏼heal gut issues
💪🏼Address your addiction to stress & how it impacts your health
💪🏼Look at foods that are causing your liver to be toxic (which helps your metabolism)
💪🏼Addresses your adrenals, cortisol levels and the fact you can’t sleep.
💪🏼Eat quality food which impacts your health down to the cellular level.

Sure you may get results with these crash diets but you also may be compromising your health in the long run. Eating in basic calorie deficit long term erodes your system- namely your thyroid function. And throwing on intense hiit cardio on top can throw more fuel on the fire.

Raise your hand 🙋 if you’re always on a diet and this sounds like you.

I am not sure what caused my auto immunity, my adrenal fatigue or my under active thyroid. But I am pretty sure that the chronic stress I was under day in and day out definitely had something to do with it.

This was me, on a typical day. NYC subway to the office, coffee in hand, having racing thoughts on how to meet my deadlines in between attending 10 meetings. And This wasn’t just busy time in the fashion industry. This was. All. The. Time.

But, in full transparency, I also played a role in my own suffering. My people pleasing nature, say yes to all of it didn’t help. I never asked for help for fear it made me look weak. And I thought I was eating healthy but gluten and dairy were not my friends in my system and I was too busy to be aware or to make a change. I always on some diet, never taking a real lunch break, rushing around, over exercising and no rest days, popping reflux meds and having daily gut issues that left me doubled over in pain.

The chronic stress was something I needed to untie myself from. Even after leaving the high pressure career for my passion career, I needed to unlearn some bad behaviors that I can’t blame anyone but myself. I always had a choice. I just never allowed myself to rest. To take a break. To slow down. I was living in fear more than joy, afraid to ask for what I really needed.

But healing takes time. Years of abuse don’t just go away. My body and mind are still wired to go go go- that route seems like my default at times and it takes years to unlearn.

I know so many of you women can relate. The modern day society of we can do it all and be it all has its limits. It needs to include rest, help, and to reassess what’s really important in life. How to balance, allow for real breaks and to push back when we are not feeling well. As it not to be viewed as a weakness and more importantly, for us women to see these traits as TRUE STRENGTH.

Don’t give up finding your inner peace. Healing takes time and isn’t a straight line. Listen to your body when it’s in pain- it’s telling you something and you need to follow it. Trust it and know that there is always a choice in finding your path to healing ✨✨✨✨

Dear 2021,

You have been a year of growth and immense healing for me.

Healing my heart from grief
Healing my need to be in constant motion
Healing my body from gut issues and auto immunity
Healing my relationship with food
Healing my addiction to achieving
Healing my addiction to working
Healing parts of my inner child

Healing is an incredibly slow and can be a painful process. It takes time and to a certain extent it takes you to slow down or even just stop all together. But it’s necessary. When we break a bone, it disrupts our life and we need to just stop our everyday activities. we need to isolate the break, just for a period of time. We give it rest. We need to do the same with our minds, souls and bodies from time to time.

This year, I stopped things that were toxic for me. I stopped eating foods that made me sick. I revisited my grief from my dad. I made peace with people and learned to move forward. I looked back at what my role was in certain times and realized where I could grow. I stopped overworking and put up boundaries. I incorporated new foods that healed my body. I stopped associating my worth in my achievements and realized I have always been enough no matter my salary or title.

But the biggest growth of all, i made peace with myself. I am learning to lead with love. To stop acting out of fear. To finding the lesson in the hard. And to have unwavering faith. “What’s meant for me will never miss me”

Thank you 2021 and I look forward to continuing this path in 2022.

We hear so much about anti inflammatory diets and lifestyle these days. But what is it exactly?

In the simplest terms, it’s looking at inflammatory foods, as well as lifestyle and removing them for a period of time. Then reintroducing them one by one to see what has been a concern.

Inflammatory foods can be: sugar, dairy, gluten, alcohol, grains, legumes, nightshades, eggs and/or soy.

The key is to stick to eating high quality protein like Organic grass fed animal proteins. These cause less inflammation and hormone disruption
Organic fruits and veggies are preferred
as well. They normalize hormones such as estrogen and insulin and overall improve health and digestion

Ideally all produce should be organic since pesticide cause endocrine disruption which can lead to cancer leaky gut and more

Healthy fat should be prioritized. Olive oil, coconut products, avocados and nuts seeds which support female hormone balance and help with inflammation. Remember, Inflammation is the great hormone mess maker

Avoid grains because they are processed and they wreak havoc on our health. They contain lectins, which attach to the intestines lining and cause intestinal permeability. This then causes toxins to invade our body like bacteria. The lead to joint pain, inflammation & damage to the gut lining which stops absorption of certain key nutrients to our system.

Avoid Gluten since it’s highly inflammatory. This is found in wheat, barley rye and even oats. Gluten perpetuates leaky gut. Leaky gut is one of the causes of auto immune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, hashimotos disease and lupus.
