Mental health is an essential aspect of our overall well-being, and it is important that everyone has access to resources and support to take care of their mental health. Unfortunately, there is still a stigma surrounding mental health care, particularly within certain communities, including the Black community.
Historically, mental health has been a taboo topic in many Black communities, with many people feeling shame or embarrassment for seeking help to address mental health concerns. This stigma can make it more difficult for individuals to access the support they need, hesitating to ask for help. Also, it can prevent families and friends from understanding and assisting their loved ones who may be having difficulties with mental health issues, minimizing or dismissing signs of struggle.
That is why we are here to provide education and support because mental health IS health and needs to be a priority in our lives. It's time to break the stigma and start advocating for mental health in our community. Drop a "✊🏾" emoji if you agree and share with someone who needs to hear this message.
