A study of pregnant women in Ontario found that 76% experienced back pain during pregnancy, with prevalence rising as gestation advanced. Yet survey data show that the majority of physical therapists report minimal academic education in women's health and prenatal care.

That gap is the case for continuing education. The Pregnancy Rehabilitation course from Herman & Wallace builds your foundation in safe screening, examination, and treatment for the pregnant patient, including lumbar, pelvic girdle, and pelvic floor presentations.

7 years is the average time a patient lives with pelvic floor symptoms before saying anything to a healthcare provider.

Seven years of leaking on the run, seven years of pain with intimacy, seven years of bracing through a sneeze, planning bathroom routes, and quietly accepting that "this is just how it is now."

It isn't.

The barrier isn't the science, it’s the silence, stigma and embarrassment. The belief that these symptoms are simply the price of childbirth, aging, or being a woman.
This Pelvic Pain Awareness Month, we're recognizing every clinician who asks the question patients are too embarrassed to bring up. Help us shorten the wait.

Hall E. Tufts University School of Medicine. Research shows patients suffer for a median of seven years before seeing a doctor for pelvic floor dysfunction.

Inside this white paper, you'll find the numbers that every practitioner in women's health needs to know. From the disproportionate impact of pregnancy on pelvic floor health (women with one pregnancy experience stress incontinence at 14Γ— the rate of men) to the seismic shift of the baby boom generation into its highest-risk decades, this paper maps the full scope of what's coming.

Whether you're considering a specialty in pelvic rehabilitation or shaping policy around women's health services, this is the data you need to make informed decisions.

This two-day course is designed for the clinician that wants to understand the multitude of changes that are experienced in menopause transition and how they affect the aging process.

According to the North American Menopausal Society, by 2025, an estimated 1.1 billion women worldwide will be postmenopausal. Despite the large population in this transition, health care providers are often unsure of how to treat patients experiencing menopause.

What does it look like to rebuild a career from the ground up, not once, but twice?

For Carole High Gross, PT, MS, DPT, PRPC, it looked like sitting on a bed surrounded by textbooks, learning to call a very hard season "just a very long summer." It looked like walking into a pelvic health clinic on a whim and feeling, instantly, like she was home.
After more than three decades in physical therapy β€” pediatrics, aquatics, outpatient ortho, inpatient rehab, and the home care work she loved most β€” Carole's career was interrupted by a breast cancer diagnosis, a rare chronic leukemia, and CIDP, a neurological condition that significantly affected her mobility.

Today, Carole is a Pelvic Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist at Jefferson Health Lehigh Valley, a Lead Teaching Assistant and instructor at Herman & Wallace, and a researcher contributing to international clinical guidelines on Ehlers-Danlos syndrome through the Ehlers-Danlos Society's Pelvic Workgroup.
