Masks4Medicine is a grassroots campaign started by New York City doctors that seeks to help healthcare professionals on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic stay healthy by collecting and distributing desperately needed medical masks and other supplies

When COVID first hit NYC and PPE shortages were being projected, we started Masks4Medicine with hopes that we might get a few hundred handmade masks for backup PPE for our local healthcare providers. But thanks to all of you, we accomplished so much more. Hundreds of thousands of PPE items later - from fabric masks and N95s to scrub caps and face shields - we are so proud of how our community came together to support the providers who care for us and our loved ones. We want to redirect attention to other resources and organizations, so leave a comment if you have recommendations for our followers! ❤️ Please stay safe and continue social distancing as best you can — we are crossing our fingers for a speedy recovery both here in the US and around the world. 💜 @ New York, New York

As we learn more about the correlation between exposure times and likelihood of contracting covid, the importance of adequate PPE for our healthcare workers is clearer than ever. Many are exposed to the virus for extended periods of time during their long shifts. Thanks to your donations, we’ve been able to provide tens of thousands of providers with PPE during the peak of the pandemic in NYC. We appreciate you all so much! 💛💛

We’re still hard at work getting the continual influx of donations out to the providers who need them 🙌 thank you to our donors and the providers who take time out of their day to pick up donated supplies on behalf of their teams in need!
Thanks to the great efforts of New Yorkers, social distancing has worked to decrease the number of new cases and number of hospitalizations, relieving some of the strain on our hospitals. Still, we’re nowhere near back to normal. We urge everyone to continue practicing social distancing, even as businesses reopen and warmer weather arrives. The best way you can thank our healthcare heroes is by standing healthy and minimizing your own and others’ risk! 🌟

Thank you to our incredible community for helping us fulfill this team’s need for scrub caps and masks!! 💚💚 And a big thanks to these healthcare workers for everything you’ve been doing to keep our community safe. We’re so proud of our city and neighbors for staying home, social distancing, and flattening the curve. We’re still far from a return to normalcy and our hospitals are still operating at higher than normal numbers, but it’s encouraging to see us moving in the right direction 🙌
