Hi all! We’re making insulin! No really, we’re doing it right now!

And after adding 20+ volunteers to our current manufacturing group in Baltimore—with the goal of making this accessible to everyone—we’d like to invite you to participate in some of our events, volunteer, or donate funds if you can.

We support diabetics in Ukraine and are looking to connect to members from the surrounding effected areas (possibly in Romania, Poland, etc.).

“SCOOP—Russian attacks cut off access to the main warehouse for Novo Nordisk drugs in Ukraine, a source says. All of NN’s insulin in 🇺🇦 is stored there. Unless warehouse access restored, pharmacies only have a couple days of left. ➡️This is also a crime against humanity.”

We have been so thrilled with the number of donations to our general GoFundMe, but wanted to set up a way for our community to more sustainably support what we do — so we can plan for the long term.

This black history month, take some time to educate yourself on the history of mutual aid. We wouldn’t be able to do what we’re doing and help our community without the time and effort put in by the black community to establish mutual aid programs around the country.

For many, CGMs like the Dexcom G6 are inaccessible. It isn’t an issue of not wanting one, or clinging to admittedly outdated technology. The issue is cost. There is no patient assistance program to help afford their system.

We should not have to rely on mutual aid to survive, yet here we are. Price gouging medication needed to simply survive is a human rights violation. Insulin manufacturers have gotten away with it for far too long, and we must hold them accountable.

We are not powerless. There are 34.2 million diabetics in the US, with ~7.5 million dependent on insulin. Together we can make great change within our community. It’s time to organize, and hold insulin manufacturers accountable.
