Ok. If I could do it all over again, I’d LIKE to say that I wouldn’t change anything...but there might actually be a few things I would “tweak” a bit.

In no particular order:

1. Recover as hard as I trained. Specifically...sleep, which is horribly underrated.

2. Work on mobility a bit more. I don’t care if what modalities you pic (yoga, etc.), but you have to do SOME kind of dynamic movement through full ranges of motion.

3. More self-care. I’m STILL guilty of this. I spend time giving others therapeutic massage, but forget myself. Not good.

Mind you this didn’t come via some secret knowledge that was bestowed on me, but rather I just got older and, well, started to get achy and what not.

Now I train SMARTER...but this took me a while to figure out. Don’t make the same mistakes I did!

Coming from both a Strength and Conditioning background, as well as a Massage Therapy background, I get many people asking me to stretch or "release" their Psoas (i.e. Hip Flexors).

The problem is that the Hip Flexor group being "tight" isn't the issue, the majority of the time. The limitations of linguistics make this hard to describe, but this article gives a good overview, as well as some drills I recommend to clients post-massage to keep everything flowing smoothly.

Tight hip flexors can be an annoying sensation for many lifters. While stretching may feel good, it's not a solution. Here's how to fix them for good!
