👟 Day 22: Miles, Memories, and Miracles
Who says your best chapters can’t be written after 45?
Today was about so much more than just a run. It was a reminder that “impossible” is just a decision .
🌸 The Power of Community
We were joined by our neighbor. She’s not a runner, but today she chose to be. She walk-jogged a whole mile with us, proving that showing up is 100% of the win.
🕰️
Sekou and I wound our way through Central Park and stopped at Seneca Village. We took a moment to smell the spring flowers and honor the history beneath our feet: the Black Americans, Irish, and German immigrants who built a thriving life here before it was taken by eminent domain.
We run today because we have the freedom and the breath they were once denied.
💪 My HERO:
Running side-by-side Sekou finish this 3.5-hour run with ease is my daily dose of inspiration. As a 2X stroke survivor, he has been running for nearly 1,200 days straight. Despite living with right-side central pain, he remains committed, strong, and full of grace.
To the men out there: please, listen to your bodies. Drink your water, stay active, and minimize your stroke risk. It can happen to anyone, but movement is medicine.
🥾 The Journey
• Duration: 3.5 hours of walk/jogging.
• The Goal: Building toward 15-20 miles daily with ease and grace.
• Gear Check: Breaking in the new HOKAs! (While my feet HURT-My HEART is thanking me).
To my Sistahs over 45: If you think your best shape or your greatest love is behind you because of menopause, past toxic relationships or your age, let us be your proof.
We are out here getting stronger, loving with MORE commitment, and reclaiming our health every single day.
To OUR bruthas: You are not invincible, but you are capable of incredible recovery and strength. Take that first step today.
Drink your water. Minimize sodium. Manage your stress (Pray + Meditate) Exercise.
